Hi! So I was offered PACE at UT and I believe I’m going to accept the full offer (i already accepted the agreement). But I’m not sure if i want to live on campus or off campus because I do know I will have to commute to ACC, which I know isn’t relatively far from UT. But I do want to live close or at UT because I want to join clubs and make new friends etc.
Therefore, I’m not sure what would be best? Does anybody have experience with the dorms? Is it better to find a roommate through the facebook group or get paired randomly? Will they give me a housing contract AFTER I’ve paid the enrollment deposit? Also, I applied early February and I know the housing application has been opened since August so I’m nervous on whether I’ll have a good selection for a dorm.
I know it’s a lot of questions, but anything helps! Thanks so much!
Do you have a car? If not and you choose off campus, make sure you live close to a bus stop. That won’t be hard if you stick to private dorms in West Campus or apartments that generally cater to students.
Housing applications have not gone out yet even for those who have paid enrollment deposits. You can call housing to see if a February date is early enough to get one but it has been for the last three years. What you think is a good dorm is hard for us to know. San Jac or Duren? Probably not. Jester, probably.
Finding a roommate is up to you. Even when you go random, there is some matching based on questionnaires for many of the off campus dorms. If you find someone on Facebook, make sure it is someone who will definitely be attending. Also know that being paired with someone with an earlier contract date moves you up in the line (or it did two years ago).
Many private dorms will be on waitliss by now. Those wait lists will start moving in May and June. There are some that won’t have waitlists even now- usually Dobie and possibly university towers and Castilian.
Hi, I am also an incoming PACE student and am living in a dorm. I chose my roommate through the UT '22 facebook group.
