UT - Austin admission chances

<p>Hello! I was wondering if anyone could tell me my chances of being accepted into UT-Austin. As of right now I'm not concerned about my majors, I'm just conceded about getting in.</p>

<p>UT is basically my dream school, and I'm pretty set on going there if I get the chance.</p>

<p>-My class rank is 55 out of 531(Approximately 10.35%)</p>

<p>-Weighted GPA: 4.125
-Unweighted GPA: 3.989</p>

<p>-My SAT is 1980
-CR: 730
-Math: 590
-Writing: 660</p>

<p>-My ACT Composite is 27</p>

<li><p>I'm in all AP Classes and will graduate with 5 math & 5 science credits.</p></li>
<li><p>I will have taken all maths through AP Calculus, including AP Statistics</p></li>
<li><p>I will have taken all sciences except AP Chemistry, including AP Physics and AP Biology.</p></li>
<li><p>I am Parliamentarian of our NHS branch.</p></li>
<li><p>I have been a part of the Swim Team at my school for 4 years and I am currently a Captain.</p></li>
<li><p>I attended Student Leadership University in both Panama City Florida and Washington D.C.</p></li>
<li><p>I was a part of my school cross country team for 2 years</p></li>
<li><p>I am an active member in my Key Club and earn many service hours in this organization.</p></li>
<li><p>I have attended summer swimming camps at both UT Austin and Texas A&M</p></li>
<li><p>I have worked a job and have participated in a summer club swim team every summer in high school.</p></li>
<li><p>I filled out the Expanded Resume, Completed Essays A, B, and C and got both Recommendation letters.</p></li>
</ul>

<p>My hopeful majors are:
1.) Business
2.) Liberal Arts(Government)</p>

<p>You have the top 10% class rank rule that is applicable to all Texas public universities that has been modifed with a cap for UTexas. Some refer to the modification as the 8% rule but that is not accurate. The way it works is this: under the 10% rule a Texas public university is required to give automatic admission to any in-state resident who is in the top 10% of his high school class regardless of SAT or ACT test score. UTexas stands alone as having a modication of that rule, It is required to admit 75% of those admitted using that rule but no more. Each year, before applications begin, UTexas is to announce the class rank percentage you need to fall within to be part of the 75% automatic admittees. For entry class of 2012, that percentage is top 9% (it was 8% for 2011 class but UTexas found that 8% was too small to actually reach the 75% figure and thus it is now 9%). As to the other 25% of those to be admitted, UTexas has no real restrictions, it can essentially admit anyone it wants.</p>

<p>The problem you face, even if you are in-state, is that you will be vying with thousands of others for that last 25% of those to be admitted and having high grades and high test scores assures nothing. You likely have a decent chance but there is no certainty.</p>
