UT Austin Admission

Okay so I go to a small private school in Texas that doesn't rank- no automatic admission opportunity. My highest score on the SAT is 1740 (not awesome.) I DO have many community service hours including 116 hospital volunteer hours. I have taken 3 dual credit classes at a local community college and have a 4.0 gpa. I have taken all possible AP classes and feel confident I passes 2 AP tests. I am president of my senior class, president of z-club, and have competed and placed in academic and art competitions. Overall, I would consider myself a well rounded person, but I know the competition is fierce. What do my chances look like of getting in based on what I listed? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Hook em!!

What major do you plan on applying with? 25% of acceptances are reserved for the non-automatic applicant pool and that 1740 might be a deal-breaker if your essays aren’t stellar. If you can have a 4.0 but only make a 1740, that suggests your high school inflates grades.

What do you stand out in? That’s probably your best shot.

I plan on becoming a dentist and majoring in biology. Yeah that’s true, I’ve taken it like 5x too. I’m a good student, but standardized testing is not my strong suit. My best assets are my volunteer hours and I have also created a business plan for a non-profit organization (currently on hold for federal recognition)
