Hi everyone, I’m going to apply for UT Austin this year and wanted to see if applying as soon as applications opened mattered vs applying any time before the deadline made a difference in how my application was viewed.
I know about the top 8% rule for my year but I’ve seen students with very strong qualifications get wait listed instead of automatic acceptance because they applied later than others
Instead, they had to do a transfer program where they did 1 year at UTD and transferred to UT afterwards.
So is there a difference between applying as soon as admissions open or applying whenever before the regular admission deadline?
I have the same exact question. I’ve heard from some people that it does, and others say that it depends on which major you apply to…?
If you are not auto admit or apply to a competitive major, it can take up to March. If you apply to a non-competitive major as an auto admit, it can take a few weeks at most.
I was an autoadmit and I turned in my application 2 weeks before the deadline. I was accepted 1 day after the deadline, but it probably depends on your major.
what major did you apply to, OhSorryYo?
I just submitted my application essays and sat for chemical engineering will they process my app until I turn in the transcript
No. They can’t calculate your academic index without your rank, so until they get that, they cannot process your application.
I was a nursing major @texangirl505
