I spoke to someone in admissions yesterday about this event. She said that invitations will not go out for the event until February, likely the middle of the month. She also noted that students who are accepted to Plan II Honors, Business Honors Program, or other honors programs likely will not receive an invitation for the Best of Texas event since those honors programs have their own event.
Thanks for the info @houstonmama!!
Hi, my S emailed with Plan II this week and they will have a Houston area reception for admitted Plan II students at the end of March. The date is tbd. I am guessing they’ll hold similar receptions in other Texas cities.
Anything new on this, anyone?
Hi - also trying to figure out this best of texas thing, how I got in, and whether I should go or not. I’m an auto admit UT21 student, electrical/computer engineering major @ cockrell, but did not apply for honors; high ACT, high SAT, and top >1%/600+ senior class.
I did get the actual invitation to the event through email yesterday, and it was titled “You’re invited: Best of Texas”. In the email it had the direct link to rsvp for it.
@ecejb0001 , it’s not just for Honors students. It is for the high achievers, which by your stats would include you. Congratulations. It is very similar to an all (most of) day campus visit, but with others who were accepted, that have or have not yet accepted UT’s offer. My LHS had already accepted UT’s offer, but not having much interaction with the campus til then, we used as an opportunity to see the campus again, especially the dorms. If it’s easy for you to attend, I think it was worth it.
I’m a little sad that it’s already full despite the email being sent out 4 days ago. My account was locked due to inactivity and I just got the new password this morning. I heard that it filled up fast, but didn’t think less-than-a-week fast. So note to future students… make sure your account isn’t locked beforehand. XD
DS 2021 received a snail mail invitation to the 3/25 event. His account was locked initially but, he was able to register successfully yesterday. Maybe he was one of the last few to get a spot?
He’s a high stat, accepted EHP student who was offered a full tuition merit scholarship.
We registered the 3/25 event. Since we will go to UT on 3/17 as well for engineering school event, so we have not make up our mind to go to 3/25, may cancel the registration , so check it later, there might be some empty spots available later.
We got the email on the 28th and immediately registered.
We just came back from engineering experience tour , we will not go to best of Texas event, we have withdrawn from the event , so there will be more empty slots available
