UT Austin chances

Hello everyone!

I am a Colorado student at a public high school ranked 384 in the nation. I was hoping someone could give me an idea of what my chances are at UT Austin.

I am ranked at 27% in my class of 274. I have a 3.83 GPA weighted and a 3.22 GPA unweighted. I have taken all honors and AP throughout high school. On the ACT I had a composite score of 34. A 35 in math and science, 34 in reading, 31 in English and an 8 out of 12 on the writing.

I believe UT is my first choice and really hope I can get in.

Thanks so much!

OOS is going to play against you so I’d say that it is a high match a best, unless, somehow, that unweighted GPA could rise to a 3.5ish.

Hey Catria, what do you mean about OOS? out of state? I don’t understand. And it will probably be at a 3.35-3.4 at the end of this semester, it isn’t going to change too much even if I get all As, which I don’t believe I can due to a college calculus class this semester that I will most likely get a B in.

By high match do you mean good chance?

Thanks for the reply!

Some additional information:

I have accumulated around 340 hours of community service through either volunteer work or mission trips.

I have played Lacrosse for 9 years as a goalie, received two varsity letters and been team captain for two years. Also have done wrestling and Ski team for one year, but then quit those.

I have work experience in Texas at a family ranch, working 55 hours/week during the summer for a few weeks. Also a stable assistant at a family equestrian barn here in colorado working the occasional weekend.

Shameless Bump.

Bump bump bump

Hoping to get some more clarification, another bump.

Yes, the user means out of state - people in Texas have a monopoly in being accepted at UT, so it’s not easy for people who are out of state to get in unless they have rather high scores. Your ECs aren’t bad, and your ACT is rather great, but your GPA is low considering that you’re out of state. A high match, which I agree with, would be closer to a reach rather than a safety. Make sure to apply in-state for some schools. Your costs will also likely be higher because you’re out of state for UT.

Thank you for the clarification! I hate to be that guy, but price of attendance does not matter. By not having to/planning to apply for any financial aide, does it help my chances any significant amount?

Also was born in Texas and had cousins who went to UT Austin, my mother went to Baylor, and my uncle and grandfather went to A&M.
