Just got accepted to McCombs! Still waiting on honors. Good luck to everyone!
@utgal15 Congratulations! Do you mind posting your stats? Also, do you know if your decision was released Friday, and you’re just now looking at it, or did it just change today?
@stanzirowe Thanks so much! I’m pretty sure it got released today as I believe I checked Monday and it wasn’t updated yet (my memory could be failing me). And a basic rundown of my stats are
34 ACT
1530 SAT
4.0 unweighted 5.62 weighted
3/550 rank
Congratulations to your admission of McCombs !
It is December 1 and I haven’t seen one post freaking out about applications that can’t be completed. Class of 2021 has their stuff together!
Have any auto admit bio majors already been accepted? I submitted my application before October 15th, and I know of one person who’s already been accepted for bio, but I haven’t received mine yet. Although the fact that I changed my major twice might have affected that.
@deserryabrajano My DD was accepted into neuroscience a week or two before Thansgiving and was auto admit. But several waves of acceptances come out with most in February from what I have read so there is no need to worry at this point.
For LAH, the website says that we should hear before winter break if we applied before the priority deadline. Do y’all expect that another wave of acceptances will come out soon?
@jaguars17 If last year’s pattern holds, they’ll release another batch of decisions on December 15 or 16. That’s not going to stop anyone from compulsively checking the portals.
I applied October 13, and haven’t heard anything. I applied for Radio, Television and Film. Does anyone know how competitive this major is?
I’m not an auto admit so I’m starting to worry
ACT 30
SAT 1330
Rank 39/350
4.2W/3.77 UW GPA
Strong essays and 13 AP classes in total.
@gre3se It seems that only people with extraordinary stats are hearing back this early. There probably will be another wave of admits in December just based on history. Even then, the bulk of people are admitted in February it seems.
We know 2 in state admits with only okay stats who were admitted in November. Probably has to do with the major requested as they were not the more competitive ones.
My soon to be LHD was admitted on 11/18/16 into the Cockrell School which is very competitive. A year ago her now LH sister was admitted to the College of Natural Sciences in Jan. Their stats are similar - one was higher rank, the other had a bit higher ACT score. Really, you can’t read anything into who is admitted when. I know the wait is hard, but hang in there! Last year they released a small group in November, a group Dec., a group Jan 21st and a big group late February.
I agree with the above posts. The timing of admission and major status change is not indicative of any relative strength of an applicant – no one should be discouraged, it is way too early. My LH’s Forty Acres classmate, an early applicant and auto-admit, wasn’t admitted to BHP until Feb. and never had the major status changed on the UT EID system. It was a common experience among my LH’s classmates that their major change never updated on the UT EID system despite getting acceptances to Honors Programs and ultimately enrolling. Maybe that was a flaw in the system that is fixed this year, but chances are the same scenario will occur.
Does anyone know if UT takes into consideration your AP scores on major decisions? I couldn’t seem to find any info on it.
I have submitted a transcript through UT’s Document Uploading System. The only problem is that it was a PDF of an unofficial transcript (no signature or official seal). However, UT’s MyStatus is telling me that my application is under review. Does this mean that they have accepted the copy of the transcript that I have submitted?
@SenkakuLichen They want an official transcript, but if it had everything they need, I’m assuming they just accepted it anyways. If it’s not still asking you for your transcript, they accepted it.
i submited my appl on Dec 1.
when do u think i will hear back on major decisincion?
@saintgermain The conventional wisdom is that the majority of applicants will receive major decisions in February, but there will be smaller ‘waves’ of major decisions in December before winter break and in January.
