I asked the admission office last month because I was home schooled most of my 9th grade, then relocated to a Texas HS that doesn’t rank. My portal showed transcript received but “incomplete”, the lady from admission office referred me to the standard web page for freshmen admission where it mentioned the grade distribution report in the HS transcript section.
She explained for HS not ranking students, UT normally will request grade distribution report as a guideline to estimate ranking. If HS cannot furnish grade distribution report, then UT will create its own formula based on your course strength to generate metrics used as GPA. Most likely the decision will be standard (Feb). I asked my HS counselor and she got that part done for me. So luckily everything completed in October before the priority deadline.
@KaYoung2025 Uh oh, I hope that’s not something we missed. I see where it’s mentioned now in the link you provided, but the app itself didn’t give any specific instructions. I’m wondering if those things are somehow included with our high school’s transcript because my daughter’s portal says they have everything they need and she met the priority deadline. For several days there was a message that said the transcript was being evaluated, so maybe that is when they check to see if the transcript document contains those other details (for schools that don’t rank). Anyway, hopefully it’s not a problem. We are OOS and not from a school that usually has many applicants to Texas.
EDIT: I just checked in with the GC and sure enough they send a school report with the transcript, yay.
This is definitely true. Prepare an expanded resume if you can add information beyond what you put in the Apply Texas application (it is not useful if redundant info). The student can add so much more detail, and the admissions office does read it!
Yes UT definitely looked at resume and essay closely. I mentioned in my resume and essay that I didn’t have much EC because I worked for my family business and created some business iOS apps, I got emails two weeks ago for an interview about those apps.
I think generally the decisions are released in the evening. I think UT and most colleges are sensitive to student emotions during the high school hours. I don’t think schools would release acceptances/denials during high school hours.
So far this has held up. There were a small handful of acceptances on the Friday before Thanksgiving (as seen on Reddit post). This correlates with last years release at the same time. I think this year would be the same. It is just an educated guess, that so far has held up.
A couple of my auto-admit friends in the top top of my class got acceptances yesterday to UT. Both are poly sci/international majors and are still waiting on Plan 2.
I know when my daughter was accepted a couple of years ago, the notification came in the evening. To your point, they don’t want to disrupt the school day. Good luck, everyone!
