@nillupa…they attend law school, medical school, run their own businesses, work in their family business, work in hospital administration, non-profit organization, become politicians…believe it or not there is a whole world of opportunity out there for “smart” and even “less smart” people who are not STEM majors.
Will there be a wave today?
@kelly123s probably not i think in december 8 or 15
what makes you think the 8th?
It’s probably the 15th, day before winter break. From what i’ve seen many ed decisions are coming out on dec 15
@kelly123s I read it on the BHP thread
Check out my thread pls!! I need more opinions :((
Hey guys, can someone please explain to me how automatic admission works? My rank is 6.9%, so i have been admitted already, but I’m unsure how it would work if I do not get my first choice major (biology), esp since my rank is relatively low within auto admit students. Would I still be able to enter the college of natural science undeclared? Or would they admit me to a different school of study? Thanks!
@anonuser11 i believe if ur in the top 7%, then u are guaranteed the biology major.
So when do OOS applicants start receiving decisions? Any possibility they will hear in the Dec 8th or 15th wave (applied by Priority date)?!?
I think 15th
@anonuser11 What was your SAT?
@nillupa what makes you so sure?
Not everything are SAT scores especially for UT. Hollistic review is a major component in their admission decision.
Auto Admit does not guarantee admission to any major – just to the university. You will find posts on CC where auto-admits were not admitted to their majors, particularly the more competitive majors. Auto admit is based solely on GPA so the rest of your application will determine your acceptance to any major.
@ComplexX My SAT was a 1540- 780 math, 760 EBRW
I was also a drum major in band and a secretary in HOSA, if that makes a difference
@CollegeParent123 Right, so I’m just wondering what’s the most common thing that happens when you dont get your major… Do you usually enter undeclared?
No they give you a list of majors available to choose from
With UT (non auto admits), do they review your application as a whole, or as your desired major?
They review your application as a whole, with specific ideas in mind as to what they look for regarding desired majors. For example, it helps to have taken a psychology class if you are majoring in psychology or to have or be taking an advanced Government class if you wish to be a Government major. Not having these specific parts to the application does not mean you will get the major of your choice. Having them just helps.
