So my daughter is from a non ranking school and requested McCombs (honors) first and then Plan 2 second. If she doesn’t get into McCombs, what do they do with her application? Do liberal arts and Plan 2 look at it or is she just not accepted to the university? Her stats and resume are good but I know business is much harder to get into than liberal arts.
@Mills6 If she applied to both BHP and Plan 2 both look at it regardless. My understanding is that you can do both of those programs simultaneously although maybe not in 4 years.
If she does not get the requested major, she will get to choose from any open major at that time. That is usually a list from liberal arts (but Econ and Psych are usually not listed at that point). It is also possible she would be offered PACE or CAP. Everything I am saying is based on the last 3 years and as you know, can change.
@gettingschooled so does that mean that Plan 2 can accept her no matter what business does? I actually think she might be a better fit/happier there anyway…she just doesn’t!
I am not aware of any reason Plan 2 could not do that. Someone else might have a reason or documentation that they don’t and may chime in.
When do u guys think the next wave is coming the 15th or 8th
I understand that there is no way of knowing when OOS decisions will be made, but historically is there a pattern? Are all of the people talking about the 8th and the 15th just guessing and making things up? Where does this info come from?
@patsfan123 The 15th would be consistent with the last three years of December releases. OOS decisions are usually sprinkled in with in state decisions. The majority of decisions come in mid-February but may be earlier this year due to the priority deadline. Everything is speculation based on history.
You can read old threads to get a sense of the pattern but things can change without any warning.
@Mills6 from what i understand- it is very rare for a non auto admit to be offered undergraduate studies- particularly if they don’t request it as a major. Business school is harder than Liberal Arts- however plan II is probably more competitive than the business school- it probably rivals BHP in competitiveness. As a non auto- I would think you would need a minimum of 33 ACT to be considered competitive for planII ( even though I know they say numbers don’t count). Does your school NOT rank at all or do they say they arent ranking but still send top 10 to state schools? if the second, UT will know and not sure they still count you as non ranking. One of my kids was non auto- with a 33 ACT score, lower GPA than ideal but strong strong resume, essay and recommendations. I made that kid pick between Mccombs and Plan ii for first choice major and choose a second choice major that seemed easier to get into. Got the second choice major- plan ii was first choice. in hind site, probably should have done Mccombs first choice
It’s been a couple of years but my brother applied to Plan II and Engineering. Engineering was first choice. He got accepted to Plan II before he heard from Engineering.
A friend of mine told me that she heard there was another wave coming out Dec 8th. No confirmation or proof of that though. Honestly the 15th makes more since but who knows.
@funtimes123 the earlier the better lol
Did anyone get anything added today? My daughters now has a Texas Exes scholarship form. She completed the 40 acres one and it is gone. This one says something about “enrolled students”
Anyone know…Is it a nothing and everyone has it or a hint of good things to come?
Sorry actually says … “complete the entering freshman application…”
No change on honors or McCombs though
@mills6 I got that too.
@funtimes123 That is odd because when you attend the Plan II event- they tell you to pick them second but that your acceptance will be delayed based on the first choice major making a decision because second choice major is not allowed to notify until after first choice major decides
@Mills6 when did you complete application? those items appeared in my child’s portal a while back- maybe when review status happened.
i don’t know if its really indicative of anything- hope so though.
@tb2000 the forty acres one and the one asking for recommendations appeared right after she turned in application but nothing since then until this… Are you an auto admit?
@Mills6 S’s portal also was updated today with the Texas exes recommendation for entering freshmen - although his application and bhp application (he had a bhp interview early October) are still both in review. Also interestingly to me, his test scores were updated just by adding his sat reading-writing subscore (his SAT and ACT were already there).
