He applied early…a little after admissions opened…
@Bader316 PlanII is recognized as a premiere liberal arts education along the lines of that provided in an ivy league…
or a liberal arts college. It is at least as valuable as BHP. Plan II graduates are critical thinkers who have mastered usually 2-3 degree plans. They are recruited heavily across disciplines as well as have great success in acceptance to prestigious grad school in medicine, law, business etc. Many of the kids combine plan II with engineering honors or BHP;others major in Plan II alone and find success in many career fields as plan ii grades are recruited specifically in consulting and other fields where critical thinkers and communicators are needed. It is an amazing program. Congrats to all the kids receiving acceptance to that program!
@Riley m I’ll say this: An answer is as only good as it is concise. If you concisely made your point then I don’t see any reason to worry about it. Granted there is such a thing as a response being too short.
One of my responses were a couple of sentences. Only one of my short answers hit the word limit range i believe. I applied to the college of natural sciences and i am an auto admit @FrozenSenchi123
If i do not get into my major but i was an auto admit can i go in as undecided?
I believe that if you’re an auto admit and don’t get into your first or second choice majors, then UT will send you a list of available majors. You shouldn’t freak out too much about your short answers, there isn’t much you can do now except wait and hope for the best! @Riley M
Anyone get into mccombs after applying past the priority deadline
@RileyM in the past, on the final round of decisions, auto admits who were not given their majors were told they can log on at a particular time and date and choose a major. You do also have the option of UGS. If you have a lot of AP and or Dual Credit- UGS is not a good choice because i think it is mostly basics. Also the majors they offer at that time are usually not what most people would like to have. I would choose a safer major as my second choice. if you choose engineering first, maybe choose physics second. if you choose Computer Science first, maybe choose math second. If you really are set on engineering or business and don’t want to add a graduate degree for sure, i would not attend if i didn’t get the major.- both are hard to transfer to at UT. Most people are not as set as they believe going into school though. For some, going to UT is worth it to take another major and try to transfer or add a masters later to get to the career field they want. One of my kids had a ton of AP and rank was not where it needed to be but test scores were so picked a less competitive major and will add a one year masters and all of that will be done in 4 years so not much extra expense . the masters tuition is a little higher but overall given the price of in state tuition we are okay with that.
It depends on your situation. All the programs at UT are among the best in the country- so it is possible to take your second choice major and make it work for you. and UGS is great for anyone without much credit coming in.
Is UGS considered a easier major to get into for OOS and non autos?
@tb2000 i applied for biology as my first major. I want to go into medicine.
@RileyM I think most auto admits get biology if they request it. what did you pick second
my second major was also to the college of natural science. Environmental . @tb2000
My daughter was accepted into P2! Probably yesterday…she didn’t notice the update until I showed her tonight!
@ddance11 I called and asked that question about UGS two years ago- they said very rare for a non auto to be given that. However, I do know a non auto who is in UGS from that same review cycle.
Do you guys thing there will be a wave this friday for Non auto… if so big wave or small???
I think there should be a wave Friday. Check the MyStatus page around 4pm. Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted!
Will the wave friday be for non auto as well?
@kelly123s The wave should be for both auto and non-auto.
I had uploaded some recommendations on the UT Austin site, but not sure where to check if they were correctly uploaded or not. Please advise.
