UT Austin class of c/o 2022 admissions

Accepted to McCombs!!! OOS ACT: 32 Class rank: 1/204

Hook’em Horns!!!

Congratulations @Chipoltegurl28! So happy for you!!

Congrats everyone who got in!! Do you think there will be a wave next week or will we have to wait until Jan 19?

the school is closed for winter break. Not until january

I applied on Oct 7th for McCombs. BHP on 17th Oct. I had a BHP interview but haven’t heard back. Has anyone heard back from BHP? If yes, when did you apply? Thanks!

To everyone who didn’t hear back yet…don’t be nervous! There’s another wave that’ll come soon!

In state auto admit: accepted to computer science in CNS.
Never expected to be accepted this quick. For all of y’all who felt bad about their chances after looking at all the “accomplished” students who post their stats, don’t lose hope.
There will be another wave in Jan and whoever thinks they are honestly deserving of admission will get in.
GOOD LUCK to those who unfortunately have to wait a little bit longer.

UT doesn’t have winter break till next week so you never know about another wave happening!

Really excited that I was accepted into UT Austin for a Computer Science major in the College of Natural Sciences on 12/15. UT Austin is one of my favorite schools and I just made this account to post this message.

Applied OOS from New Jersey
3.6/4.0 Unweighted GPA (no Weighted GPA because all classes are honors/AP) at the #1 Catholic HS in the US (very competitive w. rigorous curriculum)
1530 SAT (790 M, 740 CR)
Extracurricular Activities: 3 “self-earned” software engineering internships, Computer Club President (organized and trained competition teams & founded a new, 3rd division in the club dedicated to CTFs), various computer science and cyber security competitions and activities (I’ve really been into tech)
Recommendations: English, math, and computer science teachers (got along with all the teachers very well inside and outside the classroom) and an external recc from my internship boss on initiative and hard work at my job and one from my towns board of education for creating a mentoring program for 5th graders run by high schoolers
Essays: Really took the time to write them well since it took extra time for the ApplyTexas app anyway. I wrote the main one on my experience and growth in middle school due to the influence of certain people and activities and submitted my CommonApp personal statement on how much I love CS as an extra document

I was surprised when the decision email came so early, but (if the blurb above didn’t already show it) am truly ecstatic to be accepted into a top 10 computer science schools (with such great weather), especially considering that my grades seem low due to the rigor and workload of my school. Hopefully financial aid and scholarships come through because I’m really set on attending.

If you’re still waiting on a decision, don’t be discouraged or worried because UT seems to actually look holistically at applications, unlike many other schools that just say they do. Go Longhorns!

Hi, i applied early august and i had my BHP interview 2 weeks ago. When do you think i will get my decision? Is it true that you are in if you get the interview? I just want to know if i got into the regular program …

Hi, does anybody know when honors acceptances come out? Are they supposed to come out with your UT acceptance or after?

Accepted yesterday: OOS student, 32 ACT, 3.9 GPA, lots of extracurriculars. Accepted to Radio/Television/Film major. Good luck everyone!

Got in Yesterday! OOS Student, 1450 SAT, 4.69 GPA, solid extracurriculars. Focused my essays on my love for Finance and Investing. Accepted to Mccombs. Hook 'em

First a question. You all that have been accepted into your majors, how did you find out? Mystatus or email?

Second, an observation. Last year the Fall semester ended Friday December 16. This year it ends December 22nd. Crazy but true. In the threads from last year there were a number of decisions posted 12/16. I know from teaching at a University, this week, finals week, there are a lot of committee meetings. My guess it the big wave of release will be 12/22.

Good luck. I have an Auto-Admit son applying to CS, Turing, and we are nail biting too. ACT 35, SAT 1500, SAT Math 2 subject test 790, AP Calc BC, AP Physics C, AP US History, AP English x 2 AP Comp Science, and some others. 5s in everything except those he takes in May are unknown. AP Scholar with Distinction. Extremely active in UIL and almost made it to State his junior year in 6A (most difficult division). He studied at Stanford last summer, and took Programming Abstractions (their 2nd year CS course), got an “A.” He thought Stanford was his first choice, until he did the Turing admissions tour and me Dr. Lin, and now wants to study at UT. The weakness in his application was his outside of school “activities.” We live on a farm, and he helps a lot, and he is not confident that it will show well.

Dr. Lin, on the tour in October, said that they were highly encouraged to release all the honors decisions at the same time as other UG programs, whereas in the past they just did it as they applications came in. Just FYI. Maybe Friday 12/22 ???

Good luck to all!

@TexArt. I hope you are right about 12/22! We are patiently waiting with fingers crossed! Do you think this includes engineering honors, too? Good luck to your son, sounds like he is a great kid!

In-state, top 1%, applied CNS Biochemistry and COLA Plan II Honors, still waiting for both. Applied August 13th

@TexArt, I feel confident your son will be accepted!

To answer your first question: MyStatus updated showing an acceptance for my son yesterday a little after 3:00 pm. At 7:00 pm he received an email to check his MyStatus page for an update. (He is auto-admit.)

For anyone wondering, I have a friend who was admitted to CNS Physics who applied after the priority deadline.

Does anyone know how many of the approximately 50,000 applicants were turned in by the Nov 1 deadline? Looks like not too many have been accepted yet and they have to let those know by Feb 1, right? Maybe we will have some more releases soon or a really big one end of a January!

From what I’ve seen on the UT website, almost half of all applicants turn their apps after Thanksgiving. So I would expect maybe 20000 applications before the priority deadline.

@Lupescupe my daughter was accepted into College of Liberal Arts on Friday- Econ Major. Texas Resident. Non Auto- Solid numbers- 30 Act, well rounded application.
