@kelly123s There was a wave today. I got in as an OOS (Computer Science). I also made a bet on this page yesterday about a million bucks if there was a wave today @ajax5205. So, I won a million bucks and got into UT Austin!
Not sure why you would commit to TAMU just because of housing, once you are accepted there you can fill out your housing application to hold your spot in line. Same as UT. Both schools don’t do actual housing contracts until May.
Then why did admissions tell @18class when they called that there was no wave today?
Because transparency is not in their vocabulary.
@hopefulparent18 please know that apartments and housing in general in college Station is abundant. Plus if wanting on campus then housing doesn’t come out til May (as long as you apply for housing right after you get accepted). My advice is not to pull UT app. Plenty of time and if you end up at tamu and need advice on where to live… let me know. I’ve been here forever.
Maybe they released decisions from only midwest applicants today? Because a lot of people from my school got in (and me) but not anywhere else.
I called the UT Austin admissions center in Dallas because the one in Austin was busy. They probably didn’t know what they were talking about. This is ridiculous! They need to tell us a day or at least be reliable with the information they tell us.
@AggieMomhelp Isn’t it true that you pick what dorm though? I know that some are much much nicer than others and I assume those fill up very fast
No, you can put down preferences but you can change them anytime as many times as you want. It doesn’t really matter.
Holistic reviews take time and is what makes UT Austin a competitive (and high ranked – particularly for a number of majors) school. Those that want to compare the timing of UT admissions to non-holistic admission schools are comparing apples to oranges. Everyone will hear from UT Austin before they will hear from the competitive universities unless a binding application was submitted. Hang in there!
Almost every school has holistic admissions - and if UT wants to act like a top-tier private university they should pick a date and a time instead of stringing people along
If I haven’t heard anything from UT Austin (applied to Computer Science) yet does that most likely mean that I am already in the no pile and they are just waiting for the last wave to release all the declined applications
@CollegeParent123 literally every college has holistic admissions
@coolguy985 100% false: “literally every college has holistic admissions”
I feel like UT hasn’t released many decisions for undeclared applicants. Do they usually wait for the last rounds to do that?
@ProfessorMom1 name a college that doesn’t have holistic admissions (other than CC I guess).
Does anyone know any non-auto admits who have been accepted into the Liberal Arts College? I feel like the “wave” today didn’t encompass many people.
Prior posts were comparing TAMU and Michigan State admissions to UT Austin. Neither does holistic admissions of of all applicants. Some have even compared to schools like Ole Miss where essays aren’t required! There are many schools that don’t holistically review all applicants – these aren’t competitive schools. C’mon, how about the schools that offer the Golden Admissions to get the really high test scorers to apply with no essays or application fee and guarantee admission before an application is even submitted – simply to raise their admission statistics. And some of these are pretty good schools.
@Kd6410 you put preference but it will depend on your time slot given in may as to when you pick. The nicest ones do fill up fast but that’s pretty typical any where.
Well, for starters, many of the Cal State schools. No essay, no listing of ECs. No recommendations. So, if they do holistic review, they are using a dart board.
