UT Austin College of Natural Science Admission

My friend is applying to Natural Sciences at UT Austin and was wondering what his chances are so I wanted to help him out. Here are his stats:

GPA: 97.988
Rank: 58/526, Top 11%
SAT: 2030, M-660 CR-640 W-730
All Pre-AP and AP classes
AP Classes: 7 Total, made a 5 on AP Chem
~50-70 hours of community service; various places
Marching and concert band freshman and sophomore years
NHS junior and senior years
Recommendation Letters from AP Chemistry teacher

What are his chances for Chemistry in Natural Sciences or undecided? Would having a 5 on the AP Chemistry test help with acceptance?

probably will et in… idk ecs are not good

but your friends has brains, unlike me

buuuuummmmppppp

Okay, I’ll bite. Haven’t you posted this before?

Top 11% is the best thing this applicant has going for him/her. SAT math is a tad light for sciences. ECs are weak–nothing junior and senior years (NHS is nothing more than a reflection of grades/rank). Community service is insufficient to make an impression. I think for Chem/Coll of Natural Sci, chances are fair. For second choice undeclared, better.

Has your friend met the calculus requirement?

AP test scores are not considered for admission purposes.

Good luck to your friend!
