Okay so i have submitted my application for the fall of 2018 as a transfer student to the college of natural sciences. i chose bio as my major and chem as my second choice. however, i lack credit for calculus which i know will set me back quite a bit. i am taking cal 1 in summer 1 semester here at home. both of my essays were great considering they went under a months worth of revision by my peers and professors at my college. here are my qualifications
GPA
3.73 (3.84 if i finish with all A’s )
- 30 credit hours
- over 200 hours of volunteer work
- 2 LOR one being from a doctor
- certified EMT in the state of texas and nationally
@crastanon01 I think you have great qualifications that make you a good applicant. However, I do believe not having calculus completed, or at least in progress, will cause adcom to look at your application twice. Their requirement is to be at least calculus-ready if I recall correctly.
Best of luck to you!
@crastanon01 Please let me know if you got accepted or not! I want to transfer to CNS for Fall 2019 to major in Public Health. I want to make sure I do everything in my hands to be a competitive applicant and to have a high chance of getting accepted… What classes did you take this past school year?
@sanedrac22 i was rejected but i honestly believe it was due to my lack of the required courses my GPA and ECs were strong. however, my application was considered late at first and then changed to “on time” after they approved my appeal. make sure you have calculus done by the time you apply its integral toward admission into CNS
I am so sorry to hear you got denied! What courses did you take this past year? I am taking Bio I, Bio Lab, English, Psychology, Political Science (GOV at UT), and Math.
@crastanon01 sorry i forgot to mention you in my previous post lol. I will be taking Calculus I this upcoming semester along with Bio II with lab, Chem I with lab, and Political Science II. Hopefuly I will get it. I am not sure about my GPA yet since we are barely half way through the semester.
