Hi! I applied to UT Austin, regular admission, and was wondering what chances I have of making it.
Academics:
Rank: 129/856 (15%)
ACT - 34 , ELA - 31, Math - 35
Weighted GPA - 4.4
Extracurriculars:
Band - 4 years, senior officer, TMEA All State 2 years, GDYO
NHS - 2 years
I’m a Texas Resident, and I probably will not get any need-based financial aid.
I also applied to Rice, A&M College Station, NYU, Michigan and Northwestern.
Please see my chances of getting into college!
Since you are not in the top 7%, UT Austin is a reach. The CS major is even more of a reach beyond admission to the school.
People that are not in the top 7% often still get into UT. I know personally of several people who were still able to get in with similar stats. Don’t count your chickens before they hatch!
Chances are very good for UT and A&M. If I were you I would go wherever I get a scholarship. STEM degrees are fairly standardized and highly employable out of college. I was able to get a good job offer with no trouble at all after graduating from a liberal arts university. Also, check out U of Alabama and Auburn. They offer the most generous scholarships to non residents. UTSA and Texas State would most likely offer a full ride honors scholarship.
BTW, I copied this from the University of Alabama website:
Presidential Scholar
A student with a 33-36 ACT or 1490-1600 SAT score and at least a 3.5 GPA will be selected as a Presidential Scholar and will receive $100,000 over four years ($25,000 per year). Students graduating with remaining scholarship semester(s) may use these monies toward graduate school and/or law school study at UA.
Thanks so much! I’m having extreme anxiety over my applications when reviewing them.
Don’t stress. These are pretty much university-assured scholarships based on stats, so there’s no competition

I’m sorry!! I just found out that it’s past the deadline for Alabama.
