The way things are going i may have to decline if I do get in…i’m an out of state student and I won’t even have two months to find a place to stay, find a job and officially move to a whole new state before classes start.
@ba2pt2 Would you be willing to share your stats? I’m applying for Math and wanted to know how we compare.
Also, sorry about your situation. I read your earlier posts, and UT really screwed you over. Kick some ass in College Station and show them what they missed out on!
Thanks, I’m not even too unhappy with the situation in terms of my own path forward, but UT had a few factors that other universities genuinely can’t offer. For instance, I would’ve been one of the only math majors to pass through UT with a deep and fundamental interest in their Yoruba language program. Very few universities bother offering Yoruba at all, and by whatever coincidence UT stands out even within that select group as one of the best. Going to College Station costs me that. In terms of the core classes I think both universities are going to be great.
I’m a second degree student originally from the humanities. My recent STEM stats at another four-year university in Texas come out to 3.88 overall with an A and A+ in Calc 1 and 2. My previous degree came out to a 3.70. Because I’m a second degree student my stats may not be easy to compare. Universities generally don’t like second degree students but I had an extremely clear trajectory in my essays and found success, eventually, to almost everywhere I applied. I did not bother with letters of recommendation. I really think it’s about knowing how to tell an academic story.
@Gtownboogie The higher the amount of credit hours you have, the more iffy your application gets with admissions––depending on your major and degree plan. If it blatantly looks like you might have to stay more than 2 years––assuming you’re transferring in and starting your junior year/3rd year of college there––you’re chances of admission will probably decrease. I have a friend in UT’s student senate, and apparently UT brings up their four year graduation rate statistic frequently, even with them. But that being said another friend of mine at UT had a classmate who spent around 3ish years at Austin Community College and still managed to transfer into UT as an engineering major, so it’s not impossible. If part of your 65 credit hours included a lot of AP credits, I wouldn’t stress, but if all of those 65 credit hours is graded college classes I’d be a little weary about it. However if you have a strong and diverse resume and good essays, you should definitely stay positive about your chances!
Yeah im kinda nervous because I have over 100 credits. I was in school from 2008-2012 but kept switching majors and ultimately dropped out, and my GPA was not impressive. But I’ve been part time at ACC for the last two years and have all my general requirements finished. Over the last two years I have a 4.0. I got a LOR from my calc 2 teacher and have a couple other strong LORs. I think my application is very strong. If I dont get in though, its gonna be because of my prior GPA, not the fact that I have a lot of credits because once I get on campus I’ll finish my program in 3 years (it’s a 5 year program).
@carmelxleon I’m also an out of state student from NY and I think June 15th-late August is plenty of time to get everything settled. Plus since we’re all on here, we can make a group chat for whoever gets accepted to find roomates! Don’t worry.
the wait is agonizing. I applied for RTF and advertising. i feel like my stats are good. but i know rtf is competitive af. only 2 fridays left for the waves to come out so fingers crossed for everyone!
Agreed. I just want to know so badly. Hopefully, they release a few waves before the deadline! Do they often do that with transfers, or is it pretty much going to be on the deadline?
Deadline is where most people find out

Does UT release decisions during the week? Or is it normally on Friday afternoons?
People have asked about financial aid packages and I just received mine last night. Other than Pell grant, UT gave me a $750 transfer grant per semester. Also about $2500 in subsidized loans and $3000 in un-subsidized loans per semester. No scholarships, but in all fairness I did forget about the application until a couple of hours before it was due ?
Pretty disappointed considering the financial aid I was offered from other schools, but UT doesn’t need great financial aid to attract students, so I’m honestly not very surprised.
Ahhh! Congratulations on the acceptance!
Thank you @STCTEXAS
We are all rooting for your appeal to be accepted!
Do a degree audit. It’ll tell you what hours transfer over and which ones go towards your degree plan!
Much appreciated. Hopefully we’ll hear good news soon.
Hey everyone. I’m just curious about this because I just found this on my application. I can access everything a student can, like UT Direct and My Classes. Is this just how the portal is or?
I’m interested too. I found that on mine as well.
I think everyone has access to that.
Hey guys- last night my friend was rejected from UT last night. She had a 4.0 and 26-32 hours (not sure but definitely over 24). She had gone to ACC for a year a took all the required classes for economics in cola and did super well. She was devastated. However she is appealing. She sent her last transcript thru an online portal but they never received it so she handed it in person on Friday. Considering that admissions aren’t there on Sat/Sun, I feel like they made a decision for her to quickly. We just thought this year would be different. I have not heard back yet but now even more stressed out and nervous!
