Hi there
I am an internationl transfer student and have been admitted to UT Austin for Economics and Indiana University Bloomington for Prebusiness.
I have been wondering which school will be better for me.
What I consider is
IUB
Pros: Its Business School(Kelley) is quite good. I am more interested in Business than Economics.
Cons: It will take me at least one more semester to graduate since I am not directly admitted to Kelley. And I heard it is fairly hard to get into Kelley through standard admission.
UT Austin
Pros: I can graduate earlier than when I go to IUB.
Cons: I am in Economics, not in Business(McCombs)
Could anyone there give me a little advice?
Oh and I applied to UW-seattle for Economics and am still waiting for its decision.
Do you think it is worth waiting for its decision or can I just make a decision between UT and IUB?
I would really appreciate any of your advice.
Kelley.
While I am going to attend McCombs this year, I think the idea of trying to transfer freshman year is a little risky. If you don’t get in as a transfer to McCombs, you’re pretty much stuck in Economics.
With that being said, Kelley is a GREAT undergrad business school. I was actually considering going there before I got into McCombs.
Hold on, I see that you are not directly admitted to Kelley…seems like a harder decision.
I’m sure getting into Kelley as a transfer is easier than getting into McCombs as an internal transfer though.
Thank you for getting back to me! I have been so worried about my issue. Yes, the problem is that I am not directly admitted to Business school for both UT and IUB… If I were accepted to any business school, then I would have decided to attend there. As you said, it seems fairly competitive to get into McCombs as an internal transfer. So if I had to attend UT, I would just stayed for Economics. But to be honest, I am not an Economics lover…I was just admitted to my second major choice. So in terms of Business school, do you think I’d just better go to IUB and transfer to Kelley, since it is less competitive than an internal transfer to McCombs?
Thank you again so much for your response!
IUB.
How is financial aid for both? Are they comparable?
IUB, in my opinion, has a better national outreach than McCombs(which still does, but does not place as strong in New York, Chicago, and the Northeast as Kelley).
Also the IUB campus is beautiful and picturesque.
If I hadn’t gotten into McCombs, I would have definitely gone to Kelley.
