UT Austin - Out of State

Hey guys, I recently learned that applying out of state for UT is really competitive and I would love to go there, so I was wondering if any of you would look and see if I stand a good, competitive chance at getting in OOS.

ACT: 32
English: 35
Math: 30
Reading: 30
Science: 34
Writing: 36

SAT Chemistry: 720

AP Exams: 5 on AP Euro, 4s on Chemistry, English Lang & Comp, US History

This year I’m taking AP Calculus, AP Literature, and AP Physics 1 online (I worked all summer to pay for it)

GPA: weighted 4.46
unweighted 3.85

Percussion section leader in marching band, concert band, jazz band, indoor percussion, NHS

Volunteer at the local animal shelter on my free Saturdays

Can get a very good recommendation

Am I competitive, and if so how likely do you think it is that I will get in. Thank you!

I’m not too familiar with OOS for UT Austin, but I think you have a decent chance. I’m from in state, so most people I know with similar credentials have UT as a match. I would definitely try to get an SAT 2000+ and improve your ECs. What are you planning on majoring in? It will definitely help if you join clubs or do volunteering that pertains to your major. Just band is probably not going to be enough (even though I know how much time band takes up) if you haven’t made region or state.
