Any ideas about which is better, anyone? Also, which is more difficult to get into? Thanks for the help.

Depends on what you mean by better. The McDermott comes with a bunch of money. I know a McD Scholar, and it sounds like a wonderful opportunity, though certainly UTD isn’t as “sexy” as UT-Austin. Plan II is a great program and more prestigious than McD, but there’s no money automatically attached. I don’t know the admit rates for either of these, so I don’t know which one is more difficult to get into, but I do know that Plan II isn’t just numbers driven. The essays and your “fit” in the program are extremely important.

At the least you need to be in the top 8% of your class to get into UT (much lower limit at UTD). I would imagine since the students are a little better at UT that the program is a little more competitive.

You don’t have to be in the top 8% to get in at UT; it just helps. You’re guaranteed admission into the university, but not necessarily into Plan II or the college you want.
