so I was just accepted to UT Austin (although I have yet to receive an official letter in the mail..), but I didn't get my first two choices which were biomedical engineering and computer science. I was accepted into the school of undergraduate studies.

I've scoured their website and other college confidential threads but I still don't fully understand what this school is about.. my biggest question is will I be able to transfer into my desired major (biology) relatively easily, maybe even before the first semester? and how hard is it to transfer internally?

please please please let me know if you know the answers to any of these questions. thanks :)

The school of undergraduate studies is designed for students to internally transfer to other majors within UT-Austin. Depending on what your GPA is after the first couple of semesters, you will likely be able to transfer into the school of Natural Sciences. You can’t stay in UGS forever, and so you will definitely be able to major in biology eventually.

A year later and my son is pretty much in the same situation. What did you decide to do, confusedprefrosh? How did it work out? My concern is that the internal transfer will cost time so my son wouldn’t have a prayer of making it through his intended major (CS) in four years.
