UT Austin Sophomore Transfer. Need a place to live...

I need some help finding a place to live next semester! I wanna sign my lease pretty soon cause I heard it gets super full fast. I already feel like I'm too late for any of the good stuff. I have a lot of friends who are at UT currently, but I do wanna make some new friends also. Anyways, I was looking into Dobie, but my friend the rooms are super small compared to their Jester rooms. So are apartments my best bet? I feel that I'll be isolated if I live in an apartment. How cheap can I get an apartment compared to just living at Dobie instead? What would you do? Suggestions please!

I just started looking for housing as well
I’m looking to live off campus, and the two areas you’ll probably want to consider are either west campus or north campus. West campus is within walking distance of campus, however it’s a bit “rowdy”, and from what i’ve gathered (only one visit with a realtor, albeit) most housing is full or filling quickly and you’ll be looking at $600-800/mo plus utilities.
North campus ranges anywhere from actual north campus to about 45th street (2-3miles from campus) and will be much quieter. Apartment housing will likely be $100-200 cheaper than west campus, and you may be able to find better deals, but at the cost of generally more “mature” housing and being farther removed from campus.
Can’t really say much for the dorms, but i’d see Jester to be the lesser of two evils compared to Dobie, but some might disagree.
