Curious…for this grace period until October 5th, are transcripts included?? Student Clearinghouse apparently fudged my transcript, and I need to get it sorted.
Hello everybody. I am attempting to transfer into COLA as an HDO major for the spring of 2019. I applied into Mccombs this fall and was denied.
stats:
3.841 GPA with 29 hours at a nationally ranked university
3.57 GPA with 21 hours of dual credit hours at ACC.
3.72 combined GPA.
4 LOR, 1 athletics academic advisor (former D1 athlete), 1 professor, 1 coach, 1 high school teacher
2 solid essays
Solid resume, 200 plus hours of community service
I would love to know if anyone has any insight on the statistics of students transferring into HDO? or just my chances in general
I was told last week that transcripts and letters of rec are given the extended time but not the application and essays.
My status says my transfer application is complete except for that a final transcript is required no later than Jan5, anyone else have this?
I applied for urban studies and Sociology as my second choice
@hsgrad18 I have application is complete and i do not have the final transcript message
October 1st deadline for applying has passed - does this mean they will start reviewing and sending out notices of acceptance/denials soon?
Hey I have a question regarding credit hours I hear they recently changed the minimum hours to 24 however I wanted to ask about AP Exam credit because at my school they don’t offer almost any credit to the AP classes I took except history however at UT the AP scores I have along with the ap classes I took gives me 15 extra credit hours therefore am I allowed to send AP scores separately to obtain those hours? Additionally how competitive is it to get into sociology?
If your current school has not awarded you credit-by-exam on transcript for your AP scores, then they don’t count toward external transfer admission at UT. You can submit the AP scores for credit-by-exam at UT only after you are admitted & enrolled, not before.
My other question was that since I’m applying for sociology what kind of gpa is competitive because the problem with my gpa is that I didn’t know that dual credit from high school factors in causing my gpa to go down I’m anticipating a 3.76 after this semester but with dual credit my gpa is at a 3.436. So do you guys think that UT will recognize the upward trend? I’m also thinking that I could also potentially get a 3.85 after this semester putting me with a transfer gpa of 3.501.
Asking again - does anyone know historically when UT sends notifications of admissions for transfer students requesting transfer for Spring semester??
I know that I was denied transfer admission for the Fall of 2018 with a cumulative GPA of 3.66 to Sociology. Also, a 3.72 and other high GPA’s were denied so it was possibly an issue with the number of spots available for the term, which is something that always fluctuates and is hard to account for.
Perhaps some of you younger lads can help me out with a bit of advice. I’m an older non-traditional student.
Here’s my situation. I have one degree already OU 2006. I transferred to that school from SLU (Saint Louis University). My last 76 hours were completed @ OU with a 4.0 GPA in all work achieved. I was on the presidents honour role each and every semester. I transferred in with a 3.5 GPA from SLU. My OU degree is a bit ■■■■ in as far as difficulty. I was a Jewish studies/Religious studies major.
Here’s the thing though…I had one awful semester in 1994. Would UT ignore all my good grades and focus on that semester? This application imho was a nightmare. I’ve been admitted to Wash-U in St. Louis, as well as Loyola-Chicago, and neither application was anywhere as demanding as this one from UT. Seeing people freak out here in the boards has my anxiety running high. Thoughts?
I guess I’m wondering if my most recent work will be good enough to overlook my one semester of $hit over twenty years ago. I also submitted four very strong rec letters. I’m trying to go to medical school. I’ve been cancer free since 2013/14. Hence the reason why I want to be a Biology major. Just a little background there;).
Any advice or thoughts would be brilliant. Cheers.
@Sith77 What is your overall GPA combined at all of the schools you have attended? This will also be a factor in your med school admissions. I think they will look favorably on your most recent grades rather than those from 24 years ago but they will start by looking at your overall GPA. If your overall GPA is around 3.75 you should have a good chance. You have been accepted to some great schools. Congrats!
Has anyone heard anything yet??? It is so quiet here! I would hate to think they wait until the very, very last minute to send out decisions.
@JaceyK they will absolutely make you wait. Sorry, I know that’s not the answer you wanted. They told Fall 2018 transfer students that they would hear no later than June 15 and most everyone received decisions on the 16th. It was a long 4 month wait.
their website says “most decisions released in November” but I called the school and they said some people will hear starting in November BUT most decisions will be released in January. I mean, if I get accepted I will only have three weeks to find housing and I live in New York State. No matter what, I’m going to check the acceptance page regularly lol.
@hanjhutch January? When I called them they told me between late November and early December. I hope it’s not January by the time decisions come out. I have to let the school I was already admitted to know if I’m attending by December 15th.
I I hope it’s not January either it seems like the dates aren’t matching up. Now I have no idea!
Has anyone’s mystatus changed to in review from complete? Mine still says complete
