UT Austin: Spring Transfer 2019 Thread

Hey everyone! Post here your questions about transferring to UT for spring 2019

Do we know an approximate date of when we might hear back?

I read somewhere on the UT website that they let you know a month from when applications are due in october. So, most likely beginning of November you will hear back.

i have a question, im thinking to apply to CNS in textile and apparel, but right now i am in ACC and i have all the requirements done but i dont have a few math and science courses done. is there a way i can apply and do the rest of my courses like math and science stuff there? Or they all have to be done before. cuz i have about 40 credit hours.

I’m currently a freshman and I wanted to see if I could transfer to UT next semester. I’m currently taking 14 hours and I have 12 hours that will transfer from AP scores. My classes will end early December, but will that impact my ability to apply by the October 1st deadline? I figured I could send everything else in but after actually typing it out it seems unfeasible. Regardless, I’m still planning on applying for my sophomore year, I thought I would just see if I could make it for the spring deadline since it’s typically known that their a little relaxed with the acceptance letters (so I’ve been told).

@queenpal You need to have all of the prerequisites required by the major you are applying to completed or be taking them this semester. You can apply to another major and try to transfer internally later.

@kcsprop1 is internal transfer hard to do?

@queenpal I am not certain but I think it is the same as external transfer. You need good grades to get into the competitive majors. UT classes can be hard so it is likely more difficult to keep a high GPA at UT than at ACC,

I think i’ll apply to some other major and then try to do an internal transfer. @kcsprop1

@ivebeencronched hey so I am going through the same kind of situation- I am a freshman looking to transfer for spring 2019. I have like 40+ AP credit hours, but no transferable GPA for them to look at until I complete the 14 credit hours I am doing this semester. I was told by various UT people that I should go through the process (aka do the app, essays, send LORs, and send transcript) by October 1, and then send another final transcript in December after classes end. the only downside to this situation is that technically, UT admissions can let you know of your decision by as late as Jan 22.

My daughter has submitted her application for transfer into the Biochemistry/Biology majors - she is transferring from a local community college - has over a 3.9 GPA (all As and 1 B (in history lol)) for 58 credit hours. I believe she has the course requirements (there isn’t really a list for her requested majors). She only has one essay to finish before her application is complete - everything else has been submitted. Does anyone know what her chances might be and how long it takes UT to make a decision?

@JaceyK it sounds like she’s pretty good in terms of standings- I have been told that to be competitive for CNS transfers (aka bio, biochem, etc.), one should have 3.7+ as a GPA. if she has everything on time, she should hear in like a month or a month and a half at most. if I were to hedge a bet, I would say before December 1st.

I’m applying to government with a 3.5 from 26 credit hours at ACC, and 16 currently in progress. Anyone know what t GPA range the College of Liberal Arts is looking for?

@natureenthusiast I’ve heard that between 3.5 to 3.6 is what they look for in COLA transfers

Does anyone know if this spring semester is going to anywhere near as competitive as the fall 2018 semester was? Generally is it easier to be admitted in the spring vs. the fall? I have a 3.85 GPA ad got rejected to COLA last semester so I’m applying for spring so I’m Hoping I have better luck this time

did you the prereqs complete? micro-macro and both calcs? it’s weird they didn’t take you at a 3.85 if you’re an econ major

@drojes apparently each semester is competitive as spots per major differ so it’s kind of a free-for-all. what major did you apply to?

@drojes what majors did you apply to?

Hey yall,
I am trying to transfer into Spring 2019 as a Gov major in Liberal Arts. I have a 3.76 right now with 42 hours. I have 12 more hours in progress at community college. My essays are great, but I am worried. I had a 3.86 and got rejected for Fall 2018. Do I have a chance? Is there an easier major I can put as my second choice?

actually have a 3.83 rn. Lol
