UT Austin: Spring Transfer 2019 Thread

I hope it’s a good news fingers crossed

I’m confused why everyone thinks we will hear back so soon? When I called and talked to admissions they told me that it won’t be until January?

@hanjhutch for transfers for Spring 2019 enrollment ? January would be way to late.

January is only if you are waiting for your hours from this semester to go towards the 30 hour minimum or if you’re waiting until financial aid comes through. My friend did the same thing last year and found out in January because of hours and financial aid, but otherwise everyone should be finding out next week.

@camrodriguez What do you mean with reference to financial aide? I never saw anything on the UT app or, apply Texas where you could select an option to only be notified of acceptance if your aide was sorted?

@camrodriguez On the website the minimum says 24 hours, not 30!!! I hope I don’t have to wait lol, I had 29 hours before this semester. Ugh. This wait is SO agonizing!!! I have never wanted anything so badly.

financial aid and acceptance don’t come together. First you get accepted then you get aid. Also they’ll start sending our decisions by next week doesn’t mean each and every person who applied will get next week. The process of sending out decisions will start next week and continue till January or December

It is a tough wait that’s for sure. I was rejected for the fall 2018 semester so I am applying again. I have a 3.85 with 27 credits (not counting the classes I am taking this semester) applying to urban studies in cola and I am still anxiously awaiting the decision. I was told that they “hope” to release decisions before Christmas break, but that was a couple weeks ago that I spoke to admissions. I have no idea what that means exactly since they seem to always be super vague when it comes to release dates…

Assuming you make as good of grades as you’ve always made,…you’ll have 30+ hours with a 3 8 or better gpa. Just my opinion, but I think you’re good mate. And, yes the waiting is mental.

Anyone want to chance me for an English major? I have a 3.7 GPA, 29 hours from an out of state community college (45 after this semester), 4 LOR (one from the President of my community college), two heartfelt essays, roughly 70 volunteer hours, and I’m a member of Phi Theta Kappa (an honor society).

You have a really good chance of getting in. You have good gpa. @hanjhutch

Could someone help me out? I applied for UT way before the deadline as an Econ major for Cola but I was a CS major before and had it changed to after I sent in my transcript. I have Micro and macro Economics completed aswell as Calc 1 with As and Currently in Calc 2 right now and one LOR from my calc professor . I have a total of 51 hours with a 3.857 GPA but that’s basically pretty much all I’m going with. I have some volunteer hours and a little job experience and my essays were fine. I know people say you need more than a 3.6 to get in but I’m worried my lack of volunteering etc will be considered a higher factor in the admissions than my gpa.

@yyss998 I don’t think volunteering will affect your application in anyway. You’ll get in dw

I hope so. I read on a previous thread statistic in which a person with a 3.7 got rejected to cola econ. Hope all goes well for us though

Hello everyone! Just joined the thread. I’m a spring 2019 transfer hopeful. I plan to go into Pre-Athletic Training. Does anyone know any info on transferring into that? Like my odds of getting in with that major etc. thanks!

My friend was in her first semester of college when she applied to transfer for spring of 2018 and she found out 2 weeks before the semester started and she said it was because her hours from this semester had to go towards the 24 or 30 hour minimum required to get accepted.

^But otherwise if you already have over that many hours before this semester is included then we should be finding out this week! Is anyone else applying to the school of education? I’m applying for the Exercise Science major. I go to a community college in San Antonio, I have 46 hours (I will have 59 after this semester), and a 3.75 GPA, lots of volunteer hours, Phi Theta Kappa honor society member, I’m also in a health professionals club. My resume with high school and college combined looks pretty good and I have a LOR. My friend applied for the same major and got accepted for Fall 2018 and has a 3.72 GPA.

@yyss998 I was rejected for Fall 2018 with a 3.72 to econ. Applying for spring with same gpa and updated essay, resume, LOR etc

If you don’t mind me asking, would you have any idea why you couldn’t get in? A 3.72 should’ve been solid to get into Cola Econ from what I’ve read

@yyss998 I thought so too. we (other people who had high GPAs that didn’t get in) called admissions and they said they over admitted freshman students and weren’t able to admit many transfer students for fall 2018
