Since spring is basically about all transfers you should definitely get in this time. Your GPAs way above the requirement so there shouldn’t be a problem. Good luck!
Do you guys think UT actually reads over our entire applications? Meaning, they look at all aspects and trends in gpa? Sometimes I feel as if they might not, but idk…
I really hope they do. They say they do holistic review but I doubt. The only thing they care about is gpa not trends of improvement
@UTbabe if that’s the case I’m done for. I had an awful semester way over a decade ago, since that time I’ve earned a degree (last 67 hours) w/ a 4.0 accumulative. However, my bad semester really drags my over all gpa down. If UT doesn’t see I’m a very different student than the one who started university I haven’t a chance?. I have a good resume, and 4 really great LOR’s but, what does that matter if all they care about is bottomline. The stress is REAL!
@Sith77 I’m in the same boat as you are. I had an awful semester and after that I improved a lot but that bad semester drags my gpa down. I hope they do the holistic review they say they do. The stress is definitely real
@UTbabe Here’s the thing that makes not a bit of sense to me…Let’s compare a student with 30 university hours, +6-9 hours of AP credit, and an overall gpa of 3.75, to a student with loads of hours and a 3.3-3.6 gpa who had a lousy semester early on in their career, but has since been either perfect, or close to perfection academically. To say the student with the higher gpa, less hours, and low level courses would be a better UT student, versus the other candidate who has more upper level hours but, one blemish on their transcript is laughable. My best mate growing up went to Oxford and did awful. He had all the talent but wasn’t ready for the responsibility of university. My point is it’s a gamble to bet on a student who has so few hours and has hardly experienced the rigors of upper level courses. University
Isnt just all about gpa, it also about maturity, and how to best use ones free time. UT is affectively saying, mistakes aren’t forgiven here, no matter how great the students turn around might be. In my way of thinking, that’s not only unfair but flawed logic.
I totally agree with you on this it is a very flawed logic but you know what UT never forgives that’s just how they are which is very sad?
I believe that is is somewhat of a “holistic review”. For example, there were many people who applied for McCombs in the Fall that had 4.0s and were denied, while there were a few students that had <4.0 that were accepted.
That is totally based of what people had said in 2017-2018 thread, so who knows if that is 100% true or not. When I talked to a admissions adviser, he told me that they look for “well-rounded” students. I do believe that the GPA is the most important factor of the application, but not the only thing they base their decision on.
In order to look for a well rounded student they need to carefully review the whole application, read the essays which I doubt they do
Let’s just hope that the odds are in our favour ??
@utbabe Supposedly they do read over everything including the essays. There’s a guy that has made YouTube videos about this stuff. If you’re interested, you should search on YouTube “ut admissions guy”.
Honestly I’m crazy nervous about the decisions. My goal the past couple years has been to get in to UT. I just hope that busting my ass to make the grades and pushing myself far past doing the minimum pays off. I’m sure that pretty much everyone else in this thread feels the same. All we can do is hope and pray!
What’s well rounded? How does UT define that? It’s all debatable. The issue is we all want in, so we all are playing by UT’s rules. The saddest thing for me is I think it’s far easier to get into the Northwesterns, Vanderbilt, Wash-U, and William & Mary’s of the world vs. MICHIGAN & UT-AUSTIN type of public Ivy’s. Sometimes I don’t know what else I can give or show the committee, other than a organ?. And, let’s not forget those people we all know who already attend UT, but are pi££ing it away with average grades. Why even go to UT then??
@Sith77 I know what you mean! On top of presenting great credentials I think ya just gotta get a little lucky.
Any news peeps? I saw more high school seniors getting UT acceptance letters on Twitter. I really hope they hurry up so I can make some plans. It’s been 1 1/2 months already.
Nah nothing new where on Twitter tho? #gonetotexas?
Someone in my class was accepted today so they must’ve started
@utbabe I just put “UT Austin acceptance” in the search. I just wish UT would get on with. Praying they send out notices before Thanksgiving. I don’t need another day of this stress.
It’s killing me! I hope we find out by the end of this week!!!
So…what are some of your guys back-ups? I’m pretty screwed atm if I get an L from admissions. I’m moved to Austin from DFW to go to school here. My optimism was pretty good prior to Oct 1st. Since that time I’ve been brought down to earth by all the different UT threads on this site. My options are aTm, Baylor, or returning to DFW to attend UTD. *I’m not at all an Aggie type of person so that seems an odd fit tbh.
@utcolahopeful ohh atleast someone got it
