UT-Austin vs. TCU

I'm trying to decide between UT-Austin and TCU but can't decide. I plan on studying business and also want to be in a frat, study abroad, etc... It will cost about the same to go to both schools so that is not an issue. I really just can't decide. I've visited both but neither one significantly stood out over the other. I'd love to get people's opinions on these two schools or at least comparison between the two schools -- pros/cons. Thanks for your time!

As an independent observer with no dog in this fight I would choose UT. McCombs is a great business school. TCU seems to have a frat boy party school image…though UT definitely knows how to party as well.

Thank you for the input!

Were you admitted into McCombs and Neeley?

If you were admitted into both, then McCombs is the better choice unless you strongly believe you will live/work in the DFW area after graduation, in which case the social networking and internships at Neeley may arguably serve you better.

If you were not admitted into either business school, just UT and TCU generally, then I assume without knowing that your chance of internal transfer is higher at Neeley. It is very challenging to internally transfer into McCombs–the minimum requirements are set out on the biz school website, and even if you meet them, admission is not guaranteed.

Beyond the business schools, do you have any leanings whatsoever based on campus life? surrounding metro area? I think they’re fairly different…

Good luck!

Yes, I was admitted into both McCombs and Neeley. Outside of the classroom, I am leaning towards Austin because I love the vibe of the city. I like the music scene and it’s just a fun city to be in. However, I’ve only been to Fort Worth once when I visited TCU and it seemed like a cool city but since I was there for such a short amount of time I didn’t get a great feel for it. Thanks TXArtemis!

I don’t think there is much of a choice here. UT by a landslide. Much, much stronger in every respect.

TCU is nowhere near the same class academically as UT
