Hey everyone,
I got to the PACE option as my UT Austin admission. Although, I'm a bit disappointed by this because I still feel that I should have gotten in normally (check my stats by clicking my user profile), what are the chances of getting into UT through the waitlist. I know plenty of people who aren't going to end up going to UT because they just have it a safety school (ie. all the auto admit kids who want to got out of state to more renowned colleges). Does this improve your chances by a lot ? From what i know, the admissions ppl review your application holistically to determine whether or not to give you your admission spot from the wait list....

So anyone who has had experience with this or has something useful to add to the discussion please go ahead and share your thoughts....

I saw the numbers regarding getting accepted off the waitlist from previous years on college confidential. You may want to search the older threads. Most colleges have a model that predicts their yield (i.e. how many of the accepted students will enroll) and they adjust their acceptances so that they hit their target enrollment. So, they have already factored in their expectation of how many auto-admits are going turn down UT in favor of a more renowned college. It’s an imprecise process, but usually they are not off by much and if more kids enroll than the model predicted then very few people will make it off the waitlist. Its’ all major dependent.

UT does not go to its wait list much. There is another thread here that talks about PACE. It is a great program in that you live in a UT dorm and go to at least one class at UT. For all general purposes you are a UT student. You will have a UT ID in your pocket. Yes, you will got ACC for a few core classes, and you will only do this for a year. But all in all, your experience as a UT student (even thought it is through PACE) will be no different than others that are not doing PACE.

@collegeshopping . I have a few more questions regarding PACE. How likely are you to get the major choice that you want. For instance, my first choice is to go to Mccombs. Ideally, I would like to transfer in to BHP in my sophomore year. However, my question is … can I still do that with PACE?
