Not going toooooo in depth with ECs, I know UT likes to look at numbers more than anything.

Plus I know I can write pretty darn good essays. I can get really creative with those.

Majors to apply for:
1. Natural Sciences
2. Liberal Arts

Academic Trend: dip freshman year, less of a dip sophomore, best junior year

If I'm missing anything, please ask. Thank you in advance, please be brutally honest. This will hopefully calm my nerves.

QUESTION: I can score higher on my ACT if needed. I can get a 34 if I really tried, but is it ABSOLUTELY necessary here?

-M

Are you a Texas resident? If so being in top 10% will automatically get you into UT

Sorry but being good looking bears no impact on your chances

Why not apply as a prospective pharmacy major? Seems to me that your chances might be higher vs liberal arts

@sgopal2 you are mistaken, to be an auto admit for UT Austin 2015 you need to be in the top 7% of your class for in state students. For 2016, in state students need to be in the top 8% for UT Austin, other Texas schools the top 10% will cut it but not for UT Austin.

@sgopal2 well I was aiming for biology, because I’m planning for med school. I think bio would be my best chance because I’ve taken several health care classes

And even if you get into UT, you are not automatically placed in the major you want.

It’s hard to say if you’ll make it. My nephew wasn’t an auto-admit, and he did NOT get in, even though he had excellent ECs (Eagle Scout, excellent trumpet player, volunteering in Africa, etc.). He was devastated, because he was born with orange blood. He even got to see Texas win the national football championship a few years ago! He ended up at Butler University in Indiana. He likes it, but is taking extra courses so he can graduate early and come back to UT for grad school.

@MaineLonghorn how were his numbers? typically UT depends heavily on numbers as I’ve heard.
