I'm looking to major in economics/finance/accounting (or a combination of these two/three). I'm mainly concerned about the cost of the latter two, but I am partial to prestige. I've been accepted to BHP @ UT and Wes.

I plan to go into finance and am shooting to go into investment banking.

With your stated preferences, it would be hard to go decide between a LAC such as Wesleyan (assuming that what Wes is) and the “regular” McCombs Business School. As most know, UT-Austin has the top program in Accounting in the country. You can count the number of LACs that offer a competitive program in Accounting (and finance) on one hand.

Given the three programs you listed, your acceptance at the BHP should make the choice quite easy.

@1314eternal, I am a student in the program and was on the track to go into investment banking until recently when I got an offer to intern in strategy consulting; last summer I interned at an investment bank and recevied over 20 interviews this winter break with firms looking to hire BHP students for banks in NYC, dallas, chicago, houston, san francisco, and in between. These firms included many of the top firms like GS, JPM, MS, Evercore, Greenhill, etc.

This year we have BHP students going to goldman sachs (more than a few), jp morgan, morgan stanley, barclays, BAML, evercore partners, greenhill & co., jefferies (also more than a few), etc.

If you are dead set on investment banking, I think that the choice is a no-brainer, but I would encourage you to be open to other post-graduation possibilities. Hope that helps.

BHP is a no-brainer for business. None of the other schools offer the same opportunity. McCombs bschool is good. McCombs BHP is elite (on par with Wharton UG).
