UT Austin McCombs (OOS, no BHP) vs. NYU Stern vs. UCSD econ

I'm deciding between McCombs, Stern, and UCSD.

I was really confused by UT Austin's admissions process (rolling admissions and weird "wait until your application is processed to submit your resume you get 7 days after the application deadline) so I didn't even know there was an honors program before I was too late to apply for it. I'm really worried about this. From what I hear, BHP is what makes business at UT Austin famous and it seems like they get a lot more recruitment opportunities and a better experience studying business. I'm also an OOS student so it would cost me 55k a year to attend...

Stern is expensive. It would cost me around 62k per year.

My other option is going to UCSD (i'm in state) for economics for around 31k per year. It's obviously not business though, and I have no idea about job placement or opportunities.

There's also UC Irvine, which has (from what I know) a no-name business school? Also I didn't like the campus very much, and it seems like there's no spirit.

Really stuck! Does anyone have any advice?

Is cost a big factor for you? If yes, UCSD. Study Econ, get a job, consider an MBA for later. Read those threads about why Econ is better than Business for a major.

If no, go on to UT. If you do well, you can transfer into BHP. There was a good thread in the UT section by a guy who wanted BHP and then changed his mind fwiw. Search for it.

UT’s BHP is about the same as Stern. As the other person said, you can transfer to the BHP. I’d say UT is a little more for Accounting, while Stern is more specifically for IB. UT might be cheaper (considering personal expenses), but it really depends where you want to work/what you want to do. Good luck, both are good schools.

Probably gotta go for McCombs.
