UT CAP program at UT Arlington vs SMU vs St. Edwards vs NYU

Yesterday, I found out I was rejected from UT Austin, but I was offered to go into their CAP program at any of the eligible schools. I would only be interested in attending UT Arlington. I’m just wondering if it’d be worth doing the CAP program. I got accepted to St. Edwards and offered a 20k per year scholarship. I have yet to hear back from SMU or NYU, but I’m hoping to get accepted in this hypothetical. Assuming I do get accepted to both, what school would be the best? I plan to major in English and then go to law school. Thanks!

Is money an issue? Does the St Edwards scholarship make that school the same price as the UT system?

If $ is an issue, forget NYU (stingy with aid and expensive) and SMU (expensive). CAP or St Edwards could be your best bet if the cost is similar. English is not a hard major to get into at UT Austin, so if you do your year of CAP, you should be able to have your major.

If money is not an issue, you can pick based on other factors, like where you want to live. Looking ahead to law school, UT law school gives great bang for your buck. It is a strong school at a relatively low price. Think, too, where you will want to practice. Texas? Then it might make sense to study in Texas and make connections. It is tough to find law jobs now. Leveraging your local connections could make the difference in your post law school career. If you go to college and later law school in the state, you can meet people and work in law related fields.

I’m planning on doing CAP at UTA so I could be biased but I think cap would be the best plan just because of the lower cost and more prestige at UT (Then St. Eds at least)
