<p>I got a full tuition scholarship to UT Dallas. How are the academics at UTD- are they very demanding if you're in the Collegium V Honors Program? If you're not in the honors program?</p>
<p>How is the geography/geospatial science program at UTD? That is what I'm majoring in. </p>
<p>would you choose Texas A&M or UT Austin with no scholarship over UT Dallas with full tuition scholarship?</p>
<p>UT Dallas is a good school, it is the second best school in the UT system. in your case how much debt would you have if you went to A&M or UT? personally you will probably have a better overall college experience at UT or A&M, but i know that a full ride is very tempting. </p>
<p>have you received FA packages from UT or A&M? wait to you receive packages to truly make your decision, but i personally would go to UTD if i would have to take alot of loans at UT or A&M.</p>

<p>i got a full-loan package from UT Austin (which isnt a good offer at all) and am still waiting to get the aid package from A&M (which probably wont include any scholarships/grants)</p>
<p>well scratch UT out, wait on A&M if not go to UTD, but try and apply for outside scholarships to balance out those loans</p>

<p>That’s horrible advice to go to UT-D. Full tuition scholarship over 4 years is about $30K. You can make that back in ~1/2 year upon graduation. </p>
<p>My girlfriend went to UT-D her freshman year and absolutely hated it there. She transfered to UT-Austin and loved it. UT-D is very much a commuter school. You do not get to know your classmate well. Making life-long bonds is as much a part of the college experience as academics. UT-Austin is one of the most nationally recognized school in Texas, along with Rice. The degree will take you a long way, especially if you are planning to go to graduate school.</p>
<p>Austin is consistently ranked to be one of the best college town in the country. If you think 1/2 year of post-graduation salary is enough to trade an incredible college experience, then go for the scholarship. If not, then go to UT-Austin. The money will come later.</p>
<p>@liu not everyone who graduates from college will find a job right off the bat, keep in mind he does not want to be in a large pool of debt</p>

and remember in the work force, it going to come down to what you know/experience. plenty successful people didnt go to top schools , but yea in terms of college experience UTD probably isnt on the same level as UT or A&M, the ? is how much is UT/A&M worth to you? but UTD is Tier 2 so by no means is it a bad school.</p>
<p>but i would think if you got into UT/A&M you probably got into some other decent public schools. honestly if you dont want to take out the loans i would go with another flagship school that has offered you a decent amount of money.</p>
<p>I’m going to have to agree with liu02bhs. You’re not getting a full ride, only tuition. I know people who got full rides from UTD and turned it down to go to UT instead. College is a once in a lifetime experience. You will enjoy UT so much more than UTD (which has absolutely no campus life). Plus your career opportunities are greatly increased at nationally known university. I have heard that many students are recruited for jobs even before than graduate UT.</p>

yea this goes on at many schools especially in business, companies do usually recruit at the schools. So thats something that other schools can offer you too. </p>
<p>so dont solely base your decision on where you think you will get the best job/ hands down UT / A(M) will both have BETTER campus life</p>
<p>just look at the city the University is in, and see if any well known companys are in that area, I know Dallas and Houston have plenty companies not sure about Austin, and you can forget about college station</p>
<p>the only reason you should go to UTD in your situation is CAP or a full scholarship. Anything less than a full scholarship makes UTD rather unattractive. Austin is worth the money, it’s awesome socially, and you will almost definitely get a job. A&M is one of the most conservative schools in the nation; go there if you like saying ‘howdy’ lol or if you just enjoy the conservative atmosphere. Campus life is a bit weaker because college station simply can’t compare to austin in terms of being a college city but job prospects and a quality education are still there. Everyone has a different fit.</p>
<p>I’m surprised you didn’t get grants. Grants can usually cover your tuition and then it’s rather easy to find a place to live that’s 700 and under.</p>
<p>The money spent coming to UT will definitely be worth when in retrospect, after graduation, you look back at what you were a part of. A lot of people support and admire UT and with that comes great job opportunities.</p>

i heard it was going up awhile back, i didnt know it was in the 22k - 27k range. (lol i wouldnt have been able to afford UT at all) Why is UT so expensive? when their endowment is so high? A&M is around 21k(i believe) / i guess its sort of like an Apple product, you are paying for the brand. </p>

<p>I would probably take the full ride at UTD if I were to be planning on going to graduate school. Wouldn’t want to be wasting money on undergrad when graduate schools such as med school are expensive. Otherwise, if it’s just for 4 years, UT or A&M would be a pretty good choice.</p>
<p>Lol pierrechn doesn’t really know what he’s talking about. UT is approximately 20k/yr. I’m paying ~16k/yr for A&M right now. Most public schools in Texas are way under 20k.</p>
<p>i just looked it up yesterday it says 22k - 27k (estimated total cost of UT per year, this is what it says on the site)</p>

<p>it shows i need a little over 19k (it automatically deducts my 1288 efc)</p>
<p>so you sure you got your numbers right? maybe 16k is right for room and board plus tuition excluding those other fees</p>

<p>I am still waiting to recieve financial aid from Texas A&M; if its affordable, i might just go there. But UTD’s offer is still tempting…</p>
