UT Engineering Chances? Recomendation? (Top 7% with low SAT)

In my mind $100,000 of debt is always a big deal. All I’m saying is wait until you get the financial information from all institutions that you are interested in and that should be considered in your decision. If none of them give you a significant discount, then it is not part of the decision.

Once again thanks @GTAustin Awesome that you did extra research.

And for the record @rahgax2 and @GTAustin thanks so much  I’m pretty sure my SAT will improve anyway cause the one I already took was with only 3 months of taking precal and I didn’t study at all. My ranking is only ok because I took 3 advance sciences last year which gave me extra points towards my GPA and I messed up a year taking too many required on level classes (like speech and health and a fine arts) while taking a super hard Ap history class so my GPA got pretty bad. But nevertheless I worked very hard the following year with the 3 additional advance science classes and I jumped 5% than I use to be (12%). With that huge jump it’s motivated me to work harder in everything I do. Yalls advice really does help and I thought it would be good to hear my story. In the mean time, I’ll be finishing up summer assignments for my school and work on my SAT prep book, as well as try to review ACT things cuz I’ve never taken the ACT before.

That’s a good plan. If you can increase your score significantly that can make all the difference for you at UT. I also know that you can increase your score by studying for it, taking practice tests under similar time constraints and by reviewing all your wrong answers from your practice tests. Both of my kids did it. Good luck to you!

If your math score is on the low side, and your physics scores are also not good, engineering may not be the right major for you.
