UT AUSTIN?

I’ve heard it’s very hard to get into the engineering school at UT, and was wondering what my chances might be for mechanical engineering?

I’m a girl, and will probably be in 93rd percentile (top 7%) at a very competitive large Texas public high school, GPA between a 4.95 and 5.05 depending on Senior Year. Over 200 volunteer hours, and will Graduate with an IB diploma. I scored a 5 on the only AP test I took, and have taken the most rigorous possible classes (7 advanced science classes). I’ve spent 4 years in marching band, and received a few piccolo performance awards. I was recognized for a high score at DECA internationals, and will have 2 years of DECA membership, 3 years of science club, 2 years of NHS, 4 years of National Charity League, 2 years of dance, and a year of Spanish Club. I have also had several volunteer hours through my church and have held many leadership roles there. I’ve kept up with a part time job for two years, and will probably be a National Merit Commended Scholar (207 score). My essays will be very good, and one letter of recommendation will be amazing, and the other will probably be pretty good. What do you think my chances will be at getting into the mechanical or civil engineering school at UT Austin?

Don’t worry for even a second. Instate is almost guaranteed admission with a gpa above 3.7 and 2150 sat and top 10% rank. Out of state, on the other hand, is extremely difficult. Basically, you’re GOOD.
