Hello! I am currently a freshmen in the Blinn TEAM program at A&M. Initially, my aim was education, and to become an elementary school teacher. As I’ve taken my intro to teaching course however, I have realized this is not something I want to do, and have decided I would like to go back into the STEM field and pursue a degree in Biology, as it opens opportunities for grad school, lab work, or a high school teacher if all else doesn’t work out. My classes right now, however, are geared toward education, so I do not have the correct math and science load that I should have. (Currently taking Calculus for business majors, biology for science majors, history pre req, intro to teaching, and enrolled in band as a fine art credit)
My advisor told me that I would NOT be able to transfer fall of 2017 because I do not have enough science and math related courses, even if I took a heavy STEM workload next semester. Can someone please clarify this for me? I read on the UT transfer website that for College of Natural Sciences, you just need a credit course for calculus (which I intend on taking next semester) and at least 9 science major math/science courses (I am currently enrolled in the biology 4 credit course, and would take math 4 credits and another science course next semester). Could someone please help me out with this situation, and if I maintain the current 3.9-4.0 I have right now, with 1 EC while at university, what my chances are at an acceptance with external transfer?
