UT Health Science Honors program

My son just got an email from UT saying that he got admitted to Health Science Honors program. Looks like this is a new Honor program at UT.
Anybody got admitted to Health Science Honors program too?

I have never heard of this program.

Just found a link about this new Honors program…

[Health Science Honors](http://cns.utexas.edu/honors-scholarships/health-science-honors)
[Honors & Scholarships](http://cns.utexas.edu/honors-scholarships)

I was going to post that link. But how come students at UT can’t transfer to this program??

I’m with you xtra - there are a lot of Honors programs that are limited to incoming Freshman and I personally think it’s crap, and it especially screws over transfer students. I think if you’ve proved yourself to be of Honors caliber (requisite courses, GPA, etc.) and you still have at least 60 hours in residence to complete you should be allowed in, plain and simple. Do they publish any stats on how many Honors students drop from their various programs? Might be some interesting trends there…

This is a new program introduced this year. It is an offshoot of Dean’s Scholars. From what I hear, its like the “remaining kids” who are almost qualified for DS.

Also, DS gets first pick at prospective students. They just didn’t want to increase in size.
