UT Honors vs Rice?? HELP!!

I really need help making this decision.

UT: Plan II Honors, Chem E honors, HUGE scholarship, engineering ranked in top ten programs across the board

Rice: Chem E, i love the campus, better student/faculty ratio, prestige factor (haha but it's true), more research opps

I'd like to know which school, assuming good GPAs in both, would help get me into a better grad school (I'm definitely going to grad school, which is for sure a factor in choosing an undergrad school).

With good gpa, grad school? Rice.

Premed, 90% of students get in their (first choice?) med school.
A large majority of rice undergrads go on to grad school.
Boosting up your app - research opportunities EASY to get (houston medical center down the street also!) UT has tons of students and there may be more people interested in things than spots (just saying this, dont know much about UT’s oppurtunities)

you wont go wrong with Rice :D

What would your COA be for each school? You say UT gave you a huge scholarship - how huge is huge? Did Rice give you any money?

DS turned down UT honors engineering with schol for Rice and was thrilled to do so. But YMMV. Great opportunities at both. DS thought facilities at UT were dismal and building like a rabbit warren, and the sheer number of students in the departments was a turnoff.

i’m not interesting in bio or premed, which makes Rice’s biggest assets kind of trivial for me.

i’ll divulge the costs of attendance for each after i find out more about the quality of engineering at each. both are affordable; one is just vastly more affordable. UT has top ranked engineering programs in every department, but where’s Rice? Rice, overall, has a better rank, but is it worth giving up great programs at UT for the prestige of going to Rice?

i also heard that with a good gpa at any college, you can pretty much have your pick of grad schools. how true is that? and does that apply here?

What kind of grad school are you talking about? If you’re thinking about pursuing a PhD, research and letters of recommendation are very important. Rice’s close student-faculty interaction and huge research opportunities for undergrads can serve you well in these areas.
