like i said, i called up food and housing to ask them a question about my spot on the waitlist and they just up and offered me supplemental housing.

Sorry to bump an older thread but I am an incoming transfer and was offered a supp. housing contract today. I applied in early February, and I thought this info might help someone else who is confused or waiting.

K1DUK when did you apply?

K1DUK applied early February. No wonder no transfers received regular housing. If freshmen couldn’t get them, then transfers would definitely not get them. :(

:(… I hope Dobie will be nice and social…

Where does the hierarchy begin with all of this? Is it that the upperclassmen get priority on where they want to stay but all in all its always the freshman that account for the majority?

Yes. It is entirely based on the day you paid your $50 housing application fee. Think of it this way:

I paid my application fee in October of 2008. All freshmen this year paid either in late 2009 or early 2010. Therefore, I have priority because I paid a full year before most of y’all. Of course, this is because I am a year older. This way, the older students that have lived on campus before will get their first pick for sure.

But also, I’d say around 80-85% of people living on campus are freshmen. I would even put that up to 95% for Jester. And that’s still only like 60% of the Freshmen class, the rest live in off campus dorms or apartments.
