Do you all have the impression that if you haven’t been contacted about an interview yet, you’ll probably be rejected or deferred?
@tennessee1 when did you complete your honors application?
@tennessee1 I think not being contacted means they either have not reviewed your application yet or that it did not stand out and you are in the “maybe” pile. It is possible those who have not been contacted will be contacted later once they have had a chance to review everything after the December 1 due date. My S went to honors colloquium this summer and from what I recall, they said they make roughly 250 offers for BHP and 120 accept. The other 130 go to other schools. They aren’t going to make all their offers until they have seen the applicant pool.
Thanks for that info, @gettingschooled. I hope that BHP is still a possibility for him, although he was delighted to receive the admit into McCombs!
@serafale – My son submitted his app on 10/15. He is out of state. He received his letter of acceptance into McCombs yesterday (dated Nov. 18) but has not yet been contacted for an alumni interview. Thanks.
I applied on October 15th and had my interview on November 3rd. I haven’t gotten accepted into my major yet either, and I live in Texas… is this bad? I haven’t gotten the BHP call yet either??? HELP 
@tennessee1 Ah okay I’m not sure then. What gettingschooled said is probably accurate, and your son’s application may have been placed in regular decision as opposed to priority as the deadline for that was the 15th. I’ve had a phone interview but I haven’t been accepted into McCombs yet, so who knows how it works honestly.
@Stephiey I’m in the exact same boat. I really hope McCombs and BHP admission are independent of each other. How did your interview go, and how did you think your chances were of getting into BHP?
Just got in!!
Applied 10/15, contacted for interview 10/29, interviewed 11/3, accepted into McCombs 11/19, accepted into BHP 11/25. MyStatus does not show acceptance for BHP yet.
I was majorly panicking because I realized that the number originally on my app was disconnected, so there was no way they’d be able to tell me even if I did get in…luckily they sent an email this morning.
I’m relieved and ecstatic~
Darn it, just got deferred until March 1st 
@serafale My interview went fine, I think. I thought my answers were pretty good, but my interviewer was pretty monotone and not really that engaged in the interview… I did ask a few questions at the end and got her talking about the whole program. But I just got an email saying I was deferred today, so I guess I won’t know for another few months…

Take heart if you got deferred. Denial emails went out today as well. Deferral is still better than denial unless you are in the “it is better to know now” camp.
@gettingschooled Yeah, I guess that is true… so denials come in emails too, then? So that means that if someone were to get any sort of call, it would be an acceptance call…? I’m still hopeful, I guess… the email said that 40-50 percent of deferred students get accepted so… /crosses fingers/
DS3 was just denied for BHP. The email said that the average class rank was top 2% and the average SAT score was 1490-1500 on a 1600 (CR and M) scale.
Hoping he’ll still be in the running for admission with a 1400 SAT and class rank in the top 10% but, not high enough for auto admission.

11/07:Interview for BHP
11/18: Accepted to McCombs
11/25: Deferred by email for BHP

My son was denied as well. 2250 on SAT and 35 ACT scores and strong ECs although mostly music-related and not the kind of leadership stuff BHP is probably looking for. He was accepted to McCombs, though, so it’s nice to have an acceptance!

Yes, denials went out in email today. It appears if you applied by October 15, you have either been accepted, deferred or denied. Only those who got an interview were deferred. Only those who got accepted got a phone call. This is MY DEDUCTION and not official.
Does anyone know of anything that would disprove that? Want to document this for future applicants who will find this thread.
