I was interested in trying out for UT Austin’s Pom squad this upcoming April and have a lot questions about the program. Even though I’ve googled the team multiple times and read various posts about it, UT’s official website and other sources have been very limited and pretty vague about the whole process and experience. If you have any information on this topic, please comment! It would be much appreciated!!
1)Does the pom squad require any extra costs or fees throughout the school year for practice wear or camps?
2)Are there any summer practices or camps required?
3)For tryout paperwork, should the recommendation letter be related to dance or can it be a normal recommendation letter?
4)Should my photos be of me in my tryout outfit or regular clothing?
5)How often does the pom squad practice and on what days and at what times?
6)When does the pom season “end”?
7)Are all football and basketball performances mandatory?
8)Would one be able to be a member for one semester and not the next? For example, cheering fall semester and studying abroad spring semester?
