UT Transfer Essays- Help a Sista Out?

Hello everyone!

I'm a bit lost in regards to getting my 'voice' right for essay A: statement of purpose. Initially I thought of highlighting issues in my community that I have helped with, but it seems obvious that essay E is the 'personal essay' where you describe an issue important to me.

Also, I am completing essay C, the optional essay, to outline the difficulty I have had in getting where I am, so I don't want essay A to simply mirror my hardships.

My question to you is not your specific essay subject matter ( unless you feel comfortable sharing, in which case that would be awesome), but what approach did you take in formulating the essay?

What do you think UT really wants? Do they want a 'glimpse into your life'? Do they want to know how you would benefit UT/how UT would benefit you? HALP!!

Here is the Prompt for those who don't know it by heart:

Statement of Purpose

The statement of purpose will provide an opportunity to explain any extenuating circumstances that you feel could add value to your application. You may also want to explain unique aspects of your academic background or valued experiences you may have had that relate to your academic discipline. The statement of purpose is not meant to be a listing of accomplishments in high school or a record of your participation in school-related activities. Rather, this is your opportunity to address the admission committee directly and to let us know more about you as an individual, in a manner that your transcripts and the other application information cannot convey.
