UTAustin vs. Middlebury

Which one would you choose?

what are u studying and did u get into honros?

my brother is dumb - go to midd

linguistics, but middle doesn't have linguistics..only separate languages

wow. about as opposite schools as you can get.

one is a state school the other is a LAC...I'm sure money is an issue

Are you kidding me?

Where are you from? Money aside, I think Middlebury would be the more interesting experience, although UT has a rep of sending a lot of grads to Wall St, if that is your goal (not that Midd doesn't too).

It seems as if UT would have more connections, am I wrong to state that?

You are probably right. However, Middlebury has a very strong alumni network and reputation, especially in the northeast.

I would think UT's reputation>Middlebury's reputation.

bump bump bump

i dont know where you people are from, but middlebury is easily one of the top schools in the nation.

i'm from texas

Don't go to UT, seriously. Especially if you are from Texas. I am from Austin, and my parents worked for UT for a long time, so I know what it's really like. It is HUGE and totally impersonal and full of stupid people. Middlebury is an excellent school and the experience of going from Texas to the northeast is really rewarding. I'm currently at Cornell and am soooo much happier than I would have been at UT. Don't worry about Middlebury have more limited resources -it is THE best place for languages in the country, and chances are your interests will shift in the next four years. Also, UT is a big name, but not necessarily a well-respected one -I can say this because I'm from Austin and know that students from UT do not have an easy time getting into grad school. Middlebury is one of the most prestigious liberal arts colleges (5th or something?) and will give you a HUGE leg up for jobs and grad school.
I have many friends in the plan II honors program at UT and they hate it. Go to Middlebury!
