UTEnglish or UTCompSci? :/

I'm positive that I want to go to UT Austin and have secured a spot in the top 8% of my class.

Now the issue: my major

You see, I have two conflicting dreams. One is to be the next J.K Rowling or Jane Austin. The other is to go straight out of college being financially stable with a job that I enjoy. I went to a week long comp sci camp at UT this summer and had a blast. However I fear that in the long run I might not find time to write if I go into Comp Sci. I'm not sure if there's a safe way to combine these two subjects.

Any advice/potential solutions please?

P.S. I absolutely will not consider being a teacher. I'm too impatient and lack authority. Kid's will eat me :0

Thank you for the help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <--exclamation point abuse.

You’ll find that you will have more time to write when you have a stable job.

If you’re really passionate about both subjects, that’s why dual degrees exist. If you’re willing to fulfill the requirements for both, you can do both programs. If you want to write but don’t want to major in English, you can take English classes as electives while you do the comp sci program.

Double major yeah! I’m an English major but I’m also going to try to get into the College of Fine Arts for Theater.

Don’t be afraid to try things out and change your mind if you don’t like it later on. You don’t necessarily have to come to college knowing what you want to do; it’s while you’re spending time here that you’ll find out what’s right.
