So I would like to go to a college in New York City. I already applied to Columbia and New York University, but in case these schools don't work out, do you know of any good colleges in New York City?

Cooper Union is great for engineering and it's free tuition.
If you're a girl then Barnard College
Fordham University is also a good college

At varying levels of selectivity, Fordham, St. John's, St. Joseph's, Pace, Eugene Lang College at The New School, Manhattan, Marymount Manhattan...

Marist is in Poughkeepsie up the river about an hour. So is Vassar.

But I strongly recommend both Fordham and Manhattan College. With Fordham you have two options: the Lincoln Center Campus which is like a mini-NYU, and Rose Hill-Bronx campus which is the main campus....gorgeous gothic buildings, 7000 students and lots of great sports and activities. Fordham is a Jesuit college.

Manhattan is particularly strong in engineering and mathametics, I understand. Manhattan is run by the Christian Brothers.

Both are very rigorous academically.
