UVA Chance...oh and cornell/hopkins

I'm a junior from Maryland and I plan on applying early decision for cornell/hopkins and if that falls through early admission for UVA. I'd appreciate some input. Thanks!

That's all I can think of for now. I think i have some other minutia but it probably won't make much of a difference.

Thank you very much in advance! this whole college business is stressing me out and some reassurance/constructive criticism would be GREATLY appreciated. thanks again.

Uhhhhh, your college list needs a lot of work…

It appears that you believe that UVA will be a safety or fallback school for you. In reality, its more of the low reach category… Hopkins and Cornell will be High-reaches with those stats.

You need to take a hard look at your college list and get some matches and safeties on it. Do more research.

UVA definitely is not a safety school for me in any way, sorry if that was unclear. i was hoping it’d be an upper match college, but thanks for the input

You’ll have to chose one. You also can’t apply with ED at one school (let alone two!) and EA with another.

^ the slash meant either cornell or hopkins, not both. and i thought since early action was non binding, you could do as many of those as you like. and if by some godly miracle i get accepted for early decision, i would simply have to withdraw all of my other applications?

No. Most early action is binding, actually, and the deadlines for both are so similar you could run the risk of violating the rules. Make sure you check with your specific schools. A safety school wouldn’t hurt, either (:

^ Actually, most early action is NOT binding. OP can apply ED to Johns Hopkins or Cornell, AND EA to University of Virginia, as long as University of Virginia is non-binding.
The “binding”, per se, EA schools would be SCEA - Stanford, Yale, and Harvard.
