UVA Class of 2022 RD decisions

My S has finally made his decision and he has chosen UVA engineering over W&M. Very excited to learn more about UVA. Still have a few concerns but am hoping for a great outcome.

Upon many hesitations and concerns, my S has also committed his decision to UVA engineering. We wish everything will go well at UVA.

@LMHLAW3 which school is that scholarship for? I do not think UVA has any merit except the Jefferson Scholarship which is separate from UVA. Thank you for the information. OOPS just found it - available to instate VA residents URM or 1st generation. Congratulations. I wish they had other merit for high achieving students OOS.

@LvMyKids2 the scholarship was offered to approximately 100 students this year, up from 50 in prior years. My son received it as well. It is not URM, nor is it first gen. We are neither. We met two of the other criteria listed. @LMHLAW3 glad your son has made a decision!

@VAMom23 yes i see what the criteria is and you have to meet 2 besides being instate. I guess my point is is that it is not open to all kids as it is specific to what I put above (URM or 1st gen) or overcoming adversity or single parent or rural area or low income. One has to be instate and have 2 of those. Pretty specific of kids they are targeting. I was hoping that UVA had what some other schools have is just plain old merit for many kids that just do well in school and/or in extracurriculars - in or out of state. But the fact is, UVA is such an amazing school and selective that they don’t have to entice kids to want to go. Yes, I just read last night that they increased the number of kids getting that scholarship. Fantastic for you and your child. Congrats!

will they soon publish the number of students who accepted their offers vs the number offers so those on the waiting list will have a sense if there will be openings- I would think in this day of big data this can be extracted quite quickly and easily

@quinntheeskimo Dean J posted on Twitter and Instagram that yield was higher than expected, so not likely to be much movement off the waitlist.
