Have all the e-mails gone out?
I didn't get an e-mail today, but I got a likely letter, so I was hoping for Echols. Oh well.

^same... :)

Let's just pray there's a wave coming tomorrow, haha. Dean J's blog on the admissions site makes it sound like they might not all be out? To quote her:
"Sorry, folks. The emailing is a change from the last communication I was given from Echols. I don't know if they were able to send all the emails at once or if they are doing them one-by-one.

I have emailed asking for more information and will let you know as soon as I hear back."

Let's hope it's one by one and that they're saving best for last. :D

mychildsmom, I got a likely letter but did not receive a call, and I got the Echols e-mail.

i got a call from echols and a likely letter, but no offer....

Echols scholars basically just get first priority in registration and never have to declare a major. There isn't a scholarship, its just a sepcial program.

any idea when Rodman scholars are notified?

did anyone get an email today? still trying to get to the bottom of this... :/

Hey congrats to all of you. I'm still waiting I guess considering I've never heard of the program.
Do any of you mind sharing your SATs, GPA, extra curriculars and whether or not your OOS or not?
I just want to see if maybe I have a shot too!

"I have just been told that all Echols invitations have been emailed." (posted by dean j on her blog...)

:(

Congrats to everyone who got in, I know you're so relieved/excited!
For the rest of us...just a few more days till the interminable wait comes to an end!
13 max...hopefully less :)

S received his Echols Scholar e-mail the other night. It was exciting news! We are looking forward to visiting UVA on April 4.

Congrats to whoever got the invitation and keep having hope for getting in for those who didn't!

What constitutes an Echols scholar?

Two kids at my school with a higher GPA than me didn't get it, but I did... I don't understand =

The program and the admission process is explained on the Echols website.

I got an Echols e-mail March 17th and a physical Echols letter in the mail within the past week.

I'm really excited and thankful!

My son is an Echols Scholar. The way I understand the program is that Echols Scholars have a much deeper and broader interest in learning than many of those who focus only on higher grades. A scholar shows a love for learning, often taking very difficult courses not matter what grade they will get. I am sure in real life, scholars will always be scholars. They will always be seeking knowledge. In contrast, those who only pursue high grades, may be very sucessful in life but may not necessarily have a broad and deep knowledge of subject matters. It is not so confusing once you meet some of the scholars. Suspect Echols Scholars have a rich portfolio of AP courses in addition to other impressive accomplishments in other endeavors they pursue in-depth, like music, political causes, etc.

Does anyone know if all Echols have been selected? D is considering two schools and this program sounded very appealing. Would anyone care to tell stats of echol scholars?
thanks

Response: Excuse me? How dare you? I chose UVA for my education because I thought it was the best fit for me. I’m not an Echols, but I’m an excellent student with a strong interest in my education, future, and University. I’m OOS and had many fantastic OOS options and incentives (Ivy, Public Ivy’s, merit scholarships and such), but I chose UVA. Your attitude is so demeaning and deleterious to the spirit of UVA. A little humility would go a long way.
You owe everyone an apology in my opinion.

All Echols (and Rodman) Scholars have been notified at this point I’m sure
