Uva Decisions!!!!

Thanks Katt. UVa needs more people of your caliber, which is very high. You manage to do well in school while simultaneously juggling all sorts of extra curriculars...That is very noteworthy, and I think you still have a chance. Tech is a good school too. What would you want to study there?

yea Katt, my letter is sent to my dorm in NYU

Ok, I see the patern. I am changing my name to Mike...

"I wanna be like Mike"

my name is MIKE...still no letter for me though...

Hey noodle, any word yet? Has your app status changed?

everyone who was accepted so far:

what nationality are you (if you don't mind me asking)

I know two people who got in already, and they are both african american. My friends that are white/hispanic havent heard yet either....

Maybe they divide by race?

Nothing in the mail from UVa...this is utterly brutal.

i'm asian from hong kong

I am white, and I know of at least two other white students from who got a letter this week.

weeeeeeelll nevermind that

Well, it was nice talking to you guys throughout this process. I highly doubt I got in, so I am leaving the forum. If I get a letter, I'll let you know, but since that likely will not be the case, so long, good luck, and congratulations.

Chris

i got my acceptance letter today -- submitted my application at the very last minute :) katt, i wouldn't worry too much. i have a 3.6 college GPA, 1320 SAT, and my high school record, apart from EC's, was pathetic. i've also worked full-time since i was 17, so maybe that helped my case... no idea though. i'm still trying to decide b/w uva and unc (uva has more intl students, but unc is cheaper...)

I havent heard anything yet and I was afraid that maybe they only sent out acceptances first because it seems that everyone here has gotten in!! Im really nervous and I dont know if its the mail or what... Va_Mike...your friend got into UVA with those stats or was it a different school?

I'm Pakistani...and Asians don't get minority status at UVa soooo...yeah not goin by race definately...has anyone that's gotten accepted NOT been a Va. resident?

i know for sure that i was a "swing applicant," meaning my stats were so median that it coulda gone either way...i'm guessing my recommendation was what swung the decision towards a definate acceptance. and perhaps my midterm grades for this semester.

my highschool stats were total s h i t, so those ppl worried that their highschol stats are what might make this decision go towards a rejection, there's soem reassurance. Barely any ECs, a 3.6 only 3 APs, did i mention 2 suspensions within consecutive semesters, various penalties for skipping school, etc. etc.

sarahvs, yes my friend got in to UVa with those stats...but waitlisted at JMU.

Were we supposed to submit mid-term grades? GOD I hope not...its a little late for me

nope! i did it voluntarily cuz i figured it'd help with the decision since they only had offical reports from one semester

nahrafsfa -

I'm Pakistani too! and I'm not in-state.

i wish I thought of doing that...that could have helped a lot.
