Essays (rating 1-10, details): My common app essay was good, very unique to me about why I love history & english and don’t like math (also helps explain my test scores, lol) I’d say about a 9.
For the “work of art” essay I wrote about my favorite band and how their newest album taught me about growing up and still loving the same music, kind of cheesy, but. 8/10

None really- lower income bracket.

Strengths: Founding a club, being heavily involved in a few meaningful EC’s, essays, letters of rec.
Weaknesses: test scores
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I mostly just worked really hard to develop my spike to demonstrate my strength in history & government. Everything–my test scores, my heavy involvement in a few meaningful EC’s shows this
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Deferred at Harvard SCEA

Reflection
I’m happy! UVA is my #4 choice behind Harvard (got deferred SCEA, fingers crossed for RD), Georgetown, and AU. Definitely a relief to be in somewhere that I would be happy at. I hope my results are a beacon of hope for others that you don’t need perfect test scores and a million clubs on your resume: just find what you love and pursue it relentlessly (I think that was on a pamphlet that UVA sent me, actually)

My D was admitted EA. We are out of state. Can we expect any merit money or would we have heard by now?

@quadaces UVA does not give out merit money other than Jefferson Scholarships which is done completely seprate and is alread done for the Class of 2018. I am actually quite surprised by the number of people that have applied to UVA that still don’t know this as I see this question asked alot of these forums.

Country (if international applicant):
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: Hispanic
Gender: Male
Income Bracket: at the time of applying, 150k+

Reflection

Strengths: I moved a lot but still had upward trend, 4.0 junior year and first semester of senior year. I showed how moving didn’t hinder me at all, which is a good trait to have.
Weaknesses: ECs, but it’s almost impossible to stay consistent across three schools.
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: ACT, GPA (my weighted could’ve been higher if my credits transferred from state to state), personality
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Rejected from UPenn ED (Wharton), accepted to UF (in-state)

General Comments: UVA is definitely one of my top choices, so I’m super happy to have been accepted!

Does your weighted gpa include senior year or is it just freshman year through junior year grades?

Would you recommend sending an art supplement even if you don’t plan to major in the arts at UVA?
I’m considering but I am unsure.

@POkemonicole123 based on this blog it seems that their are guidelines for submitting portfolios which may go into more details about whether it is appropriate to submit for a non at major.
